Best Way to Wash and Dry Your Clothes

16 May 2019

Washers and dryers today come with a lot of new features that are supposed to be tailored to your needs, however, if its a habit to simply wash your clothes on the normal setting, you might be damaging your clothing unnecessarily. Most apparel comes with washing instructions, and not following those instructions can really hurt the lifespan of your clothes. While the layering shirts and other fashion wear that we make are stronger than other companies’ clothing products, it is still good to know the most efficient ways to wash your clothes.

Wash Only When You Need to Wash

Before talking about any specific washing tips, it is important to remember that your clothes don’t have to be washed after wearing them just once. We are not advocating anything that promotes something outside of clean hygiene, but there is such a thing as over-washing. If you wear a layering shirt and a jacket for a couple hours and don’t sweat much, wait before you throw those clothes in your laundry bin. If it doesn’t feel, look or smell dirty, you are probably safe to fold it up and use it another day without washing it. There are other kinds of situations that you could think about and the principle is the same — only wash your clothes when you need to.

Cold Wash

A lot of different mixing and washing is better with hot water, but clothes are not one of them. While everyone that has washed dishes knows that using hot water helps remove leftover food from plates, bowls and utensils, that is not the case with clothes. Hot water will damage the fabric of clothes a lot more than cold water will. If you think the detergent or other chemicals you use won’t mix as well in cold water, you don’t need to worry, today’s detergent products work fine with cold water.

Careful Drying

Depending on the type of clothes you are looking to dry, the method may differ. For example, some shirts are fine with being dried in a dryer on a high or low tumble dry setting, but jeans are best dried by hanging them. With our essential and layering shirts, they should either be dried on the low tumble setting of a drying machine, laid flat, or hung up to dry as well! Outside of the type of clothing, another factor to pay attention to for drying is the type of material/fabric. Cotton and linens are fine to be dried on a hot or warmer setting in the dryer, whereas knitwear should avoid any direct heating method.

Follow Instructions

The best advice that we can give you is to follow the instructions that are left on the clothes. Whether its a tag on the side seam of a sweater or a tagless label on the back of a layering shirt, you can follow specific instructions that will give you the best washing and drying methods. If you are trying to wash a stain out of one of your favorite shirts, we have another blog that gives you more specific instructions on how to do so effectively.

When it is simply time for you to purchase some new clothes after the wear and tear has taken its toll on your clothes, take a look at all the different layering shirts and other fashion wear we have here at Heirloom Clothing today!

Our American-Made Products

16 May 2019

Here at Heirloom, we are confident that our layering shirts are some of the highest quality products that you’ll find on the market, and the fact that we manufacture all of our clothes here in the United States is what makes our products what they are. If you’re wondering what makes U.S. products so great, don’t worry, we understand the benefits and will tell you why we take pride in our American made products.

To state clearly, when you look for a layering shirt, you want quality, fair pricing, and reliability — that’s exactly what you can get from homegrown products.

Reliable Quality Control

When you’re paying for overseas manufacturing, you don’t get to check up on the quality control that is happening, and when producing products at a large quantity, there are bound to be some errors during the process. For example, if a layering shirt has a loose thread, it may be overlooked due to the “cheap” price you’re paying for overseas products and services. Our American-made products go through a more strict and thorough quality control process, and this ensures that every layering shirt that we get to you is a product that you can rely on to not fall apart or get worn out quickly.

Quality Customer Service

One of the other benefits of our American-made products is that we also handle customer service so you won’t have to worry about drastic time differences and communication difficulties. When you are purchasing products from another country, sometimes there are barriers that make getting your order difficult. If there is an issue with a layering shirt size or condition, or if you just have questions, you can shoot us an email, give us a call, or come into our store and we’ll help you with anything you need.

Shorter Shipping Times, Higher Shipping Fees

When you order something overseas, you usually have to wait an extremely long time to receive it, and you also have to pay a higher shipping fee. We want your buying experience to be as painless as possible, so manufacturing our products here in the United States makes it so that you receive your orders quickly and for a lower shipping fee.

There are various benefits to American-made goods, and our products here at Heirloom will show you the quality, reliability and comfort that comes with our homegrown products. If you want to check out our products for yourself, head over to our full website and browse the wide selection of clothing that we have available.

Top 5 Clothing Items to Wear With a Layering Shirt

09 May 2019

If you are looking for something new with your closes, you can get more from your current wardrobe by rethinking how to wear your favorite clothes. One of these ways is by understanding that layering is key. A lot of people know how to layer tops with sweaters and scarves but there are so many more ways to layer to really maximize your closet. Here at Heirloom, we are big fans of layering in all seasons and we’ve compiled the top 5 clothing items to wear with your layering shirts.

Sheer Shirts

A sheer top brings a delicate element to an outfit but when your bra shows through, it can be embarrassing. Not only can it be embarrassing it is downright not appropriate in the workplace or in many social situations. Wearing a layering shirt underneath your sheer tops can help give you that fun sheer look without being immodest. Wear a camisole, tank top or a cap sleeve shirt that matches the color of the blouse. For example, wear a white camisole with a white sheer blouse.

Jackets

There are so many interesting ways to make layering interesting. Both coats and jackets look amazing with colorful layering shirts or more neutral colored layering shirts under them. Your layering shirt can be worn tucked, half tucked in the front, or worn long depending on the style you are trying to express under your jacket. Layering shirts under jackets create a more powerful sophisticated style.

Cardigans

Using cardigans to layer on top of your various layering shirts will essentially have the same effect as your jacket layering. Cardigans are so easy to make fashionable, not to mention, they are extremely comfortable. Cardigans come in all different lengths, styles and colors. Every closet needs at least a few to pop over your cap sleeve shirts when the weather gets a little colder in the evening. In addition, they are a good choice to help you mix up your clothes and create a brand new wardrobe.

Sleeveless Dresses

This style of layering is becoming more popular recently. Wearing layering shirts under dresses is a major trend that makes your existing wardrobe much more versatile. Wearing a cap sleeve shirt with a spaghetti strap dress can make it look youthful and casual in comparison to wearing the dress on its own. Pair your dresses with layering shirts that vary in length to get a sense of a brand new style that is fun yet surprisingly classy.

Vests

A vest is a piece that will help you make the most out of your closet. Any shirt, including layering shirts, can be paired with a vest to make it a little more fun and unique.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up and layer different pieces in your closet. You will be missing out on so much potential if you never switch up your layering. Your personal style can be improved by wearing the right pieces together. Layering with these key pieces will keep your wardrobe fresh and new all year round. So try combining these five items with our quality layering shirts found in store and online.

Layering Shirt Gift Guide

09 May 2019

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate mothers around the nation than by finding that perfect Mother’s Day gift? We know that gift giving can be stressful, especially when it comes to finding a gift that is practical and won’t just sit in your mother’s closet for the unforeseeable future. When you’re stressing to think of the perfect gift idea, take a step back and go back to the basics — a layering shirt from Heirloom is a great gift idea.

So, if you want to make sure that you buy the perfect gift, consider including a layering shirt for your mother. We’ve compiled a guide to help you determine which layering shirt is the best gift option for you.

Layering Shirts for Sporty Mothers

Layering shirts are a great gift because they are a versatile piece of clothing. If you’re shopping for someone who is more of an active type, the following layering shirts would be the best option for you.

Cap Sleeve Shirt: A cap sleeve shirt is one of the most common types of layering shirt. This shirt can be worn on its own when exercising or as a layering shirt under sweaters and jackets.

Tank Tops: These shirts are almost always strictly used as layering shirts but can also be used as a gym shirt. Tank tops are the best of both worlds.

Camisoles: A camisole is another sleeveless layering shirt option that offers even thinner straps than a regular tank top. With how thin these shirts are, they are breathable enough to layer on warmer days. If you’re wanting to layer this shirt under a workout top, you’ll still maintain your upper mobility without a problem.

Layering Shirts for a More Casual Preference

If you’re wanting to give a more casual gift, the following shirts are going to be the best way to go. These shirts are great for layering, but can also be used as standalone shirts to go out in.

Long Sleeve Shirts: Long sleeve shirts are a great gift option because they are a year-round layering shirt. They’re great shirts to layer in the winter but can also be used as standalone shirts in the summertime.

3/4 Sleeves Shirts: If you know that the person who you’re shopping for isn’t a fan of long sleeves but wants something more than a cap sleeve, a 3/4 sleeve shirt is going to be the best option. This shirt is best used for casual outfits and can be paired with jeans, pants and leggings.

Layering shirts make great gifts, and if you’re looking to find the best layering shirts on the market, check out the selection we have available on our website.

How to Brighten Up Your Outfit with a Layering Shirt

09 May 2019

With so many different colors, patterns and textures of clothing available to us, it seems that many of us seem to gravitate to the more neutral and plain colored styles. Why is this? For some women, they feel more comfortable in neutral colors and don’t want to appear flashy or stand out too much. Others feel that neutral colors look best on them and hide some of their flaws. However, there are ways to brighten up your outfit without looking too flashy or feeling uncomfortable in your clothing.

At Heirloom Clothing, we believe every woman should feel confident in her clothes, which is why we make the most comfortable and fashionable women's undershirts. Here are a few ways you can brighten up your outfit with a layering shirt.

Pop of Color

Layering shirts can provide a simple pop of color to any of your outfits. Let’s say you have a low cut black blouse, you can add a bright yellow or even a light pink camisole underneath this blouse to help cover your chest while adding a touch of color to your darker outfit. This pop of color can help break up the dark colors without being too bright and bold.

Bright essential shirts also look great under sheer shirts. Instead of wearing a classic white shirt underneath a sheer white or cream blouse, try wearing a pink or blue one instead to add a subtle color to your look.

Patterned Pieces

It can sometimes be tricky to find pieces to wear with patterned skirts, dresses and even sweaters/jackets, but a solid colored women’s undershirt is the solution to this fashion issue. A black and white striped skirt with a bright red cap sleeve shirt is a great summer outfit, and you can use your red cap sleeve to brighten up your looks in the winter time too! If you have a fun patterned scarf, this would also look great over any bright colored essential shirt.

Underneath Jackets and Cardigans

Going back to creating a pop of color, bright layering shirts also work great underneath staple jackets, blazers or cardigans. If you’re looking for a professional outfit, try a light blue essential shirt tucked into a pencil skirt and a nice cardigan over top. For a business casual look, you can wear your favorite bright colored essential shirt underneath a classic blazer and a pair of nice jeans or pants.

As you can see, it's really easy to brighten up any one of your outfits with a layering shirt! It all starts with just keeping a few colored essential shirts in your closet that you can pull out whenever you are wanting to add a pop of color to your look. How to Find the Best Shopping Deals

09 May 2019

Would you rather buy something that's on sale, or pay full price? When shopping for clothes, there’s always sales and deals that you can find so you don’t have to pay full price, although, you might have to wait a few days to find those deals. Here at Heirloom Clothing, we know that shopping can make a pretty big dent in your bank account. However, if you know how to find the best shopping deals, you can find your favorite layering shirts at a great price.

Check Social Media

Many clothing stores and online shops will frequently post deals on their social media pages. Although a lot of the time these deals will be the same ones advertised on their web sites, many brands like to give their social media followers extra discounts as a “thank you” for following them. Before buying that cap sleeve shirt you’ve had your eye on, check social media to see if there is a discount code you can use.

Sign Up for Emails

There are lots of brands that can clutter your inbox with junk mail, however, by signing up for emails from brands you love, you can find a lot of great deals and discounts that you won’t find anywhere else. Some people have found that if they add items to their online cart and wait a few days before purchasing, retailers will send you an email with an extra discount code to purchase your item. When you keep items in your cart for a few days, it shows that you have been debating the purchase. Retailers will seal the deal with a discount code so you will buy the product.

Don’t Just Check Major Retailers

Your favorite camisole layering shirt is most likely sold at many different stores, but you might only think to check for it at the major retail stores. By doing a little research on where to buy a specific item, you can usually find a better price for it somewhere else. Major retailers hike up the prices on items because they know that people will pay for it. Sometimes brands will also price match items since they want you to buy the item at their store and not somewhere else. If you find a better deal somewhere online, show it to a store clerk to see if they will price match for you.

Wait for Items to go on Sale

Every item will eventually go on sale, so if you wait long enough you can find that expensive item you’ve had your eye on for a very good price. Retailers are constantly introducing new products and lines and need to get rid of the old inventory to make room for the new. Although you can search for discount codes or a good deal, there’s no harm in waiting for that pretty cap sleeve shirt to make it’s way to the clearance section.

You don’t have to spend your entire paycheck in one shopping trip. Shopping can be very affordable if you know how to shop right and find good deals. If you are looking for some affordable layering shirts and clothing items, visit our full website at heirloomclothing.com.

V Neck vs Scoop Neck

03 May 2019

There’s a variety of different necklines out there, and choosing the right one for your body type can help you look and feel more confident and beautiful. Two of the most common types of necklines are V-neck and scoop necks, both of which look good on a variety of different body types.

Here at Heirloom Clothing, we understand that your clothes should not only help you feel comfortable and confident but allow you to feel bold and fashionable as well. We make our essential layering shirts in a variety of different styles and necklines to help achieve this. If you aren’t sure whether to wear a V-neck or a scoop neck shirt, here is some information on both that can help you decide.

V Neck

A V-neck shirt is where the neckline creates a triangle or V shape. V-neck shirts can come both low cut (also called a deep V) or can have a higher neckline, but the depth of the V will depend on your bust size. If you have a smaller bust, you should try reaching for a smaller V, but if you have a larger bust you want to wear a deeper V to help lengthen your torso.

If you aren’t a fan of deep V-necks or aren’t looking to elongate your neck torso, then adding a layering shirt underneath a V-neck is a great option. You can get the classic look of a V-neck without having to worry about showing too much bust, especially when leaning or bending over. Many women prefer to wear a cap sleeve shirt under their V-neck blouses for added coverage and comfort.

When accessorizing with V-necks, try wearing a necklace that mirrors the shape of the deep neckline. Since a V-neck is such a classic look, you can get creative with your accessories, and add in some fun statement pieces to complete the look.

Scoop Neck

Scoop neck shirts are one of the most common shirt styles you will find and are especially common in layering shirts. A scoop neck is a rounder, wider neckline style that can help lengthen your neck as well as accentuate your collarbone.

Part of why scoop neck shirts are so popular is because they look great on so many different body types. No matter your body shape (pear, athletic, hourglass, tall or petite) or even your bust size, a classic scoop neck cap sleeve shirt will look great on you.

If you love to layer, scoop necks are a great choice to use as an undergarment. If you wear a scoop neck by itself, try wearing some light, layered necklaces or even some drop earrings to complete the look.

You can never go wrong with wearing a V-neck or a scoop-neck shirt. Both styles are flattering on all body types and can help provide a feminine and stylish look to any outfit. For more style tips and to purchase some essential layering shirts, visit HeirloomClothing.com.

Cap Sleeve Shirts vs. Camisoles

03 May 2019

When it comes to choosing the perfect layering shirt for you, you have to compare your options to see which one will best suit your fashion and comfort needs. A layering shirt is a timeless piece of clothing that every woman should keep in their wardrobe, but which layering shirt is going to be put to the best use? Well, it all depends on the type of person you are and what you’re going to be using your layering shirt for.

We here at Heirloom have come up with a comparative guide between two of the most common types of layering shirts: the cap sleeve shirt and the camisole. This guide will help you decide which one is going to be best suited for your needs. Here is our detailed description of these two timeless pieces and what they offer.

Camisole

The camisole is the perfect layering shirt to wear under low-cut sweaters, shirts, blazers or cardigans. This lightweight sleeveless garment acts mostly as a layering shirt with thinner straps than a regular tank top. Alternatively, with its soft-stretch fabric and unconfining slim fit, you could use this layering shirt as a workout shirt. The camisole also offers a tagless label which is meant to keep you comfortable and stay out of sight. If you’re the active type or you’re simply a fan of layering, the camisole is going to be a great option for you.

Cap Sleeve Shirt

The cap sleeve shirt is another great layering shirt option, but unlike the camisole, it is more often used as a standalone shirt. It is recommended that you size up if you’re looking to wear the shirt as a standalone and want a looser fit, otherwise, it offers a soft-stretch-fabric that holds you but won’t bind you. The cap sleeve has many similarities to the camisole, but the cap sleeve can offer you a more casual look. If you like to layer, but tend to wear stand-alone shirts more often, then a cap sleeve shirt might be the best option for you.

These shirts have various similarities when it comes to materials, but they serve a few different purposes. If you’re looking to stock up on comfortable and reliable layering shirts, check out the selection available on our website. We not only have camisoles and cap sleeves but a collection of tanks, long sleeves, 1/2 sleeves, 3/4 sleeves and more.

Why You Need to Wear an Undershirt

02 May 2019

Wearing an undershirt at all times might seem like it would be hot, bulky and uncomfortable. However, more and more women are choosing to wear essential shirts under their everyday clothing pieces. With women’s styles seeming to get more skimpy, thin and low cut, layering shirts are quickly becoming an essential part of every woman’s wardrobe. Here are a few reasons why you need to join the trend in wearing an undershirt.

Seamless Look

Although wearing an undershirt might seem like it would be bulky and thick, wearing something like a simple cap sleeve shirt underneath blouses, sweaters and even dresses can actually provide you with a seamless look. Any curves or lines on your body you are wanting to hide can basically disappear with the help of your favorite undershirt. The tight and fitted fabric of these shirts can help bind you in without feeling too tight and uncomfortable.

Comfort

In addition to binding you in, layering shirts can provide you with more comfort than any other top in your closet, including your favorite fleece sweatshirt. These essential shirts are made with a soft and durable fabric that will make any outfit feel cozy and comfortable. There are a few fabrics that just aren’t comfortable to wear, especially shirts made out of wool or rough cotton. Wearing an undershirt can prevent unwanted irritation and itching.

Coverage

As we mentioned earlier, many women’s clothing styles are becoming more thin, low cut and skimpy looking. Although some girls may be able to pull these styles off, there’s also many that don’t want to show off that much skin. Wearing an essential shirt underneath low cut styles can help you be able to stretch, bend or lean without having to worry about showing too much or your chest or even mid-drift. Now when you go shopping, you don’t have to walk past all those cute v-neck blouses. Your shopping choices are maximized when you keep a few undershirts in your closet!

Hiding Sweat Marks

Sometimes sweating is just unavoidable, especially during the hot summer months. The last thing you want is to see your favorite blouse get soiled by sweat before an important meeting or obligation where you are needing to look your best. By wearing an undershirt, you can hide those sweat marks and ensure that you look your best 24/7.

An undershirt (or a few of them) will be one of the best clothing investments you ever make. These shirts are extremely versatile and will last you throughout the seasons and changing trends. To maximize your wardrobe and feel comfortable in everything you wear, purchase a few layering shirts today.

Our Favorite Looks for Spring

02 May 2019

Spring is finally here! It is time to put your heavy sweaters and dark clothes away and get out your lighter, softer colors and fabrics. To help you put together your spring style, we’ve come up with a list of our own favorite looks for the spring season using our essential line of layering shirts and other fashion items here at Heirloom Clothing.

Bright Colors

Adding colors will change your outfits from drab to fab just like that. One of the best ways to add spring colors to your wardrobe is through colored bottoms. Switching out your blue denim for brighter colors adds an extra spring to your step in warmer temperatures. If you aren’t feeling bold enough to wear bright pants, stick to bright colored cap sleeve shirts or other bright layering shirts paired with denim and simple accessories.

Neutrals

Don’t get rid of all your neutral toned clothes just yet. Neutral colors still have a lot of power during springtime. Neutral colors from ivory and cream to white, grays and blacks look fresh no matter what time of year. Neutral colors are still trending this year. Wearing a neutral cap sleeve shirt with a light jacket and a skirt or light jeans looks amazing. Neutrals look fashionable and you can even add the occasional pop of color with your shoes, pants, jewelry or purse.

Floral & Dresses

Floral patterns are a telltale sign of spring. Many floral patterns come in flowy blouses that will need a layering shirt or cap sleeve shirt underneath to ensure an appropriate look.

Dresses are also a huge sign of the coming of spring. Spring’s light dresses are great for work, the weekend, or whatever you have going on during your busy day. Spaghetti strapped dresses look perfect with a cap sleeve shirt or 3/4 length sleeve shirt.

Embroidered Tops

Fashion has been leaning towards the boho style for a while now, and flowy tops with embroidery across the chest or sleeves are definitely fashionable. Embroidered tops are usually sheer fabric or light weight and can be worn with a cap sleeve shirt or another layering shirt. These boho style tops look great with colored jeans and sneakers or wedge shoes.

As the days get longer and warmer, you’ll want to start wearing your spring style clothes. Follow these tips of wearing bright colors, using your neutral clothes, wearing more florals and dresses, and even embroidered tops will help you look attractive all spring long. Check out our website for all the attractive spring color options you need!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

02 May 2019

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and you want to give your mom (as well as most special women in your life) the best gift possible. But what do you give to the person who deserves everything and more? Here at Heirloom Clothing, we understand the importance of women and mothers, which is why we have created a Mother’s Day gift guide so you can properly honor the women and mothers in your life! If you’re struggling to come up with some gift ideas, keep on reading!

Spa Day

Treating your mom to a spa day is one of the best gifts you can give her. She deserves a day to relax once in a while! You can either accompany her on a spa day or give her a gift certificate to a nearby spa. If an entire spa day is out of your price range, a simple gift certificate to go get a massage or a manicure/pedicure is another great option that she will love.

Clothes

Your mom might not have time to go shopping for herself with how busy she is, so buying her some new clothes or treating her to a day of shopping is a perfect gift. All women could always use a few new layering shirts, cardigans, blouses or even jewelry. Shopping for clothing can be tricky if you don’t know your mom’s size, so if you buy her clothes make sure that the store has a good return policy and you provide her with a gift receipt. You can always purchase a gift card to her favorite clothing store if needed.

Yoga Mat

Yoga has gotten very popular, and chances are your mom has tried her shot at a few yoga classes. Even if she isn’t into yoga, yoga mats are great for exercising and stretching both at home and the gym. A quality yoga mat is something that you probably didn’t think to give your mom, but it’s actually a very practical item that she will love. Imagine how happy she will be at her workout classes wearing her favorite layering shirt and using her own yoga mat instead of using the dirty, worn out mats provided at the gym.

House Plant

House plants have become another trendy item, but actually, have a lot of health benefits as well. If you’re finding your mom’s house needs something to brighten and freshen it up, try getting her a pretty house plant. Before purchasing a plant, do some research on how to take care of them so that you don’t end up with a plant that needs lots of care and maintenance.

Apron

If your mom loves to cook, then she will love having a new apron to wear over her layering shirts so she doesn’t get them dirty! Aprons come in many cute styles nowadays, and you can find one that matches her personal style or even the colors in her kitchen. Some matching dishtowels and cute measuring cups/spoons would be a great addition to this gift.

Don’t stress about getting the perfect gift for your mom. There are lots of great gifts that she will love, but remember that it’s the thought, not the gift, that counts. For more gift ideas and to browse our selection of layering shirts and fashion items, visit Heirloomclothing.com.

A History of the Cap Sleeve Shirt

25 Apr 2019

Cap sleeve shirts have become a staple piece for all women, but this was not always the case. Button-up shirts were the norm until around the 1950s but then, coming in a range of styles, colors and sizes, cap sleeve shirts took off. So how did cap sleeve shirts become an essential feature in our wardrobes and how did it become so popular? Here at Heirloom Clothing, we know A LOT about the essential shirts you have in your closet, and today we are going to dive into the history of the cap sleeve shirt to uncover their takeover!

Origins of the Classic Cap Sleeve

The cap sleeve t-shirt as we know it was born out of military tradition. In the United States, the cap sleeve shirt first emerged around the time of WWI as an undergarment for uniforms.
During WWII, shirts started to be made from synthetic fabrics like rayon, nylon and viscose because most of the wool was being used for military uniforms. This led to a higher production of cap sleeve shirts and even the sleeveless version — tank tops. Cap sleeve shirts and tank tops started as layering shirts but by the time the war ended, veterans would wear their service trousers with their cap sleeve shirt undershirts as casual wear.

How it Became Fashionable

It took a while for this masculine undergarment, then casual outerwear, to morph into fashionable womenswear. Even though the shirt began to be used in the 1920s, it took people a long time to accept it as a fashionable item. Between the 1990s and through the end of the ‘80s, women started wearing them more and more, but it wasn’t until the 1990s that this kind of shirt became a fashion staple. Women began wearing cap sleeve shirts as both layering shirts and as casual outerwear paired with simple blue jeans. Today people still wear the cap sleeve shirt as both a t-shirt and a layering shirt.

The cap sleeve shirt is so successful thanks to its comfort and simplicity. Whether you want to dress up or dress down, women were finding that cap sleeves could be used for both. Further, if you were looking to hide any imperfections, wearing the cap sleeve as a layering shirt began to be the perfect solution. To this day, they are still such a versatile piece that is worn anywhere and at anytime.

Since its humble origin, the cap sleeve has remained a key element of the classic yet casual wardrobe style — everyone needs a cap sleeve shirt in their closet. Should You Wear a Layering Shirt in the Summer?

25 Apr 2019

Summer is only a few months away, and you are probably eager to pack up your winter clothes for the season and pull out your shorts and sandals. It can get pretty hot in the summer, especially if you live in a warm climate. Most women prefer to wear light clothing in the summer and avoid layering to stay cool and comfortable. However, depending on your outfit, you might have to wear a shirt underneath certain tops. Here are a few reasons you shouldn’t pack your layering shirts up with the rest of your winter clothing.

See-Through Clothing

Since a lot of summer clothes are made to be light and thin, you are going to run into more see-through clothing. A simple camisole or cap sleeve shirt in a tan or white color will be perfect underneath sheer blouses and dresses, and the light color won’t absorb too much heat. If you can, avoid wearing dark colors of any type during the summer, but especially layering shirts. The combination of too many layers and dark colors will leave you feeling uncomfortably hot.

Lightweight Jackets and Top Layers

Even though it’s summer, there’s still a lot of trendy light jackets and top layers that you will want to wear. A thin kimono type layer over a classic white essential shirt is a great way to incorporate layers into your summer look. In addition, there might be a few cooler days or nights where you will need a light, everyday jacket. Bomber and cargo style jackets look great during the summer months and will provide you with the right amount of warmth on cooler days.

Light and Comfortable

As we mentioned, a camisole, tank or cap sleeve are going to be the best layering shirt options for the summer. These shirts have the shortest sleeves, so you won’t feel like there is too much fabric bunching around your shoulders. Our essential shirts are made with soft fabric that are thin enough to keep you cool but thick enough so they aren’t see-through, and won’t wear out easily.

Essential shirts don’t just have to be used to layer with. You can wear your favorite layering shirt by itself with a pair of shorts or a flowy skirt and wedges for an adorable outfit. On hot days, you will love being able to wear your comfy tank without a blouse or jacket over top. You can even wear an essential shirt over your swimsuit if you are headed to the pool.

There are lots of ways to incorporate layering shirts into your favorite summer outfits, so don’t hesitate to throw one on once in a while. Essential shirts come in a variety of different colors as well, so you are sure to find some classic and bright summer colors to wear. For more summer fashion tips and looks, head over to Heirloom Clothing's online site to browse our selection of essential shirts and fashion pieces.

The Difference Between a Tank Top and a Camisole

25 Apr 2019

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the word “tank top?” Perhaps you think of an article of clothing that is missing sleeves, has a sleek design, or something that can be worn comfortability, but are those things unique just to tank tops? Camisoles are yet another layering shirt that consist of these characteristics, so what makes them different from one another?

If you’re struggling to think of anything, don’t worry, a lot of people do. More often than not, people use the word “tank top” to describe anything that doesn’t have sleeves, but we here at Heirloom are writing this blog to help you differentiate between a regular tank top and a camisole. Here are some of the different characteristics between the two layering shirts.

Tank Top Characteristics

The tank top is a sleeveless, collarless and oftentimes tight-fitting upper garment. The fit depends on the style of the tank top. When you look at the tank top, the first thing that people notice are the straps. Tank tops can have different strap styles but they usually have wider straps as opposed to spaghetti straps.

Tank tops are frequently worn on their own during the summer months, and they can also be used as exercise shirts or pajamas during any time of the year. Depending on the brand and where they are purchased, tanks usually come in solid colors, but they can also come with designs and graphics. They are generally made from cotton and polyester, or a blend of the two.

Camisole Characteristics

Camisoles are yet again a sleeveless upper garment, but besides that, they are different from regular tank tops. Unlike regular tank tops, camisoles have spaghetti straps and are usually worn as a layering shirt. Camisoles work well under a shirt, jacket or cardigan. Rarely will you find a woman wearing these on their own.

When it comes to materials, camisoles are often made from satin, nylon, silk or cotton. As you can see, they vary in material, where tank tops tend to stick with cotton. Most camisole layering shirts come in solid colors, but they can also come with different embellishments like lace trimmings, bows and other elegant designs.

As you can see, taking a closer look at these two shirts will show you that they have some significant differences. If you want to stock your wardrobe with comfortable and reliable clothing items, whether that be a layering shirt or a camisole, make sure to check out our selection online.

How to Wash and Dry Your Essential Shirt

19 Apr 2019

Laundry can often be a frustrating task. It is time-consuming and there is a lot that can go wrong. For a lot of us, laundry is one of those chores we learned how to do from our parents, a roommate, a significant other, or whoever else, but then we stop asking questions. Beyond sorting lights from darks, each of your clothes should be washed in a certain way. Odds are, we don’t spend the time needed to figure out exactly how each item of our clothes should be washed, but in order to make sure your favorite items “hold up in the wash,” we should definitely be paying attention to the proper way to wash and dry your clothes.

Here at Heirloom Clothing, we want to help you preserve the quality and life of your essential shirts for as long as possible. So keep reading to find out our tips and tricks to washing and drying your layering shirts.

5 Big Mistakes You’re Making That Are Destroying Your Clothes

Let’s start off with some of the most common mistakes you might be making, then we’ll go into how to fix them!

Over-washing your clothes.
Using your dryer too much.
Not reading the tag, or simply ignoring them.
Washing all your clothes the same way.
Treating all stains the exact same way.

These might sound familiar, but that is ok, these mistakes can be fixed easily. It might take more time and work, but in the end, it will be worth it to have your pants, long sleeve shirts, skirts and layering shirts looking fresh, saving you money along the way.

5 Tips to Washing Your Heirloom Shirts

No matter whether you have long sleeve shirts, cap sleeve shirts, tanks, or camisoles, our fabric is one unique blend, making it easy to wash all your essential shirts the same way.

Tip #1: Do not wash your layering shirt unless it is dirty. People often over wash their clothes, thinking that if they have worn it once that it is dirty. Unless you spill on it, sweat in it, or it smells bad, don’t wash it every single time you wear it.

Tip #2: When you do wash your essential shirts, make sure to machine wash on cold! Most people have the misconception that the water in your washer has to be really hot to actually clean your clothes, but that just isn’t true and can cause your shirts to unravel, fade, shrink up, or wear down the fabric.

Tip #3: Dryers are really hard on clothes. Towels, sheets, socks, underwear, casual t-shirts and pajamas can and should be dried in the dryer, but most of everything else should either be hung to dry, laid flat to dry, or tumbled in the dryer on low. We know this seems tedious and time-consuming, but your Heirloom shirts will stay looking fresh and won’t shrink or fade as fast as they will if you dry them every time you wash them.

Tip #4: Make sure to pay attention to the tags on your clothing. They tell you how to best wash that item in order to keep it in the best condition possible. Here at Heirloom, our essential line of layering shirts tell you that our shirts are 90% cotton and 10% spandex. The tag then outlines that you need to machine wash on cold and tumble dry on low or lay flat to dry. Use non-chlorine bleach to keep your shirt’s quality.

Tip #5: There are all different kinds of stains you might have to deal with: grease or oil stains, sweat stains, makeup stains, tomato-based foods, or other spills. These different stains should not all be treated the same way. You can find specific tricks to removing stains from your layering shirt on our other blog post “How to Remove Stains from Your Shirt.”

We hope this will help you persevere your favorite essential shirts for years to come. For all your questions and more clothing tips and suggestions, check out the rest of our website!

Choosing the Right Style of Shirt

19 Apr 2019

Something as simple as a shirt can decide what kind of outfit you’re going to wear on any given day. While your choice in bottoms, shoes and accessories have a lot to do with what your outfit is saying, your choice between layering or wearing a standalone cap sleeve shirt is going to determine whether your outfit is classy, casual or sporty. So, when it comes to choosing a style of shirt that works best for your specific style and taste, make sure that you take a step back to really think about your options.

In this blog, we’re going to go over a few different styles and how you can wear each one — let’s get started!

Cap Sleeve Shirts

This style of shirt is perhaps the most common, and for good reason. Cap sleeve shirts can be worn on their own or as a layering shirt under sweaters and jackets. Cap sleeves are the most common type of shirt because they’re comfortable and look great!

Tank Tops

Tank tops are oftentimes used strictly as layering shirts but can also be used as exercise tops. Tank tops offer thicker straps than camisoles but still don’t feel heavy around the shoulders. If you are looking to exercise, or if you need a good layering shirt, a tank is the way to go!

Camisoles

Camis are your basic sleeveless top with very thin straps. While there are various different ways to wear a cami, the most common way it is worn is by using it as a layering shirt underneath low-cut tops. Camisoles are extremely thin and are also great to layer, especially on warmer days.

Long Sleeve Shirts

Long sleeve shirts are a popular layering shirt in the winter, being used underneath vests, coats, cardigans and more. However, long sleeves also look great when they are worn casually on their own. No matter the season, long sleeve shirts are an essential closet item that all women should own.

Three-Quarter Sleeves

A three-quarter sleeve is that happy medium between a long sleeve shirt and a half sleeve shirt. This shirt is best used for casual outfits, as well as comfortable ones. They work well with jeans, sweat pants and leggings.

Half Sleeve Shirts

Half sleeve shirts are a great option if you’re looking for more arm coverage than a cap sleeve shirt but don’t want to sacrifice comfort on hot days. This shirt can also be worn underneath a light jacket or blazer, but are also great when worn as a standalone shirt.

There are a variety of ways to wear each of these different essential shirts, but it ultimately comes down to preference. If you’re looking to find the perfect shirt for you, check out our selection on our online store, today!

Must Have Essential Shirt Colors

18 Apr 2019

What are you wearing right now?… Really!! What color patterns do you have? Are there any layers to your outfit? Are you wearing a versatile go-to piece that you wear with everything? Why did you choose what you did? These are just a few questions to draw your attention to your outfit. If you did not notice, there is some kind of thought-process, conscious or unconscious, that directed you to match your outfit the way you did. Whether or not you are the type of person that deeply considers each article of clothing that you wear, there are certain colors and pieces that are key in making an outfit work.

To briefly expand on this thought, the color of the shirt or pants you wear will directly affect what else you wear with it… obvious, right? Further, a good number of your outfits probably require a certain type of essential shirt to supplement your outfit. This is why it’s important to have a few different color options for your multi-purpose tanks, cap sleeve shirts and other layering shirts. If you are curious to know the several different colors that we think you have to include in your collection of essential shirts, take a look below.

White

The first and most common essential shirt color for anyone is white! As a layering shirt, white gives your outfit a wonderful contrast with any other color, light or dark. They work great under sheer shirts and as a cover for low-cut tops and bottoms.

Black

Similar to white, black also goes well with just about everything, light or dark. However, opposite from that of a white cap sleeve shirt or another essential shirt, a black shirt draws less attention. If you are looking to hide some curves or lines, black is the perfect option.

Blues

While navy, baby blue, royal blue and other shades of blue are not necessarily considered a neutral color like black or white, it is a primary color that also gives you a wide variety of options. Some combinations, like with yellow or red, are definitely bold, but a navy blue mixed with gray, purple and green colors look really good. Naturally, just like black, darker blues can help you look the way you want.

Red

Opposite to that of drawing less attention with darker shades, red essential shirts add flare to your outfit. Even when you are wearing a red layering shirt underneath a jacket, it can still draw eyes due to its bold texture. With July 4th and other summer festivities just around the corner, red is a great choice!

Light Pink

While it may not be the most flashy or bold, a light pink shirt is another great option. During the spring, a light pink cap sleeve shirt goes great with other pastels or festive colors. However, during other times of the year, a light pink layering shirt works great underneath a black blazer.

There are a lot of options when it comes to essential shirt colors, but these are just some of our favorite choices. To get your creative flow going while picking out some new outfits, check out our whole selection of clothes at heirloomclothing.com.

How to Remove Stains From Your Shirt

18 Apr 2019

There’s no worse feeling than your favorite shirt or piece of clothing getting ruined by a stain. You wash and scrub but that stubborn stain just does not seem to want to come out. Here at Heirloom Clothing, we know that your clothes are an investment and should be long-lasting. This is why we make our essential layering shirts with a durable fabric that keeps its shape wash after wash. Here are a few tips on how to get common stains out of your favorite layering shirts.

Grease/Oil Stains

Grease and oil are some of the hardest stains to get out of clothes and are tricky because sometimes you don’t notice them until the grease has settled in the fabric. If you have a grease/oil stain on one of your cap sleeve shirts, rinse the stain immediately with cold water and then rub the stain with dishwasher detergent. The dishwasher detergent has the ability to break down grease, which is going to help release the stain from the fabric. Rinse and apply more dishwasher detergent if needed. Then, grab an enzymatic laundry detergent (the enzymes will be able to break down oils and proteins) and rub this into the stain. Leave for 10 minutes, and then wash it as normal but on the hottest setting.

Sweat

If you enjoy wearing your layering shirts to the gym, you might have a few sweat stains to take care of. Sweat stains cause that yellow discoloration in your shirts, especially in the armpit area. To remove sweat stains, wash your shirt with hot water and detergent. If you still see discoloration, try soaking your shirt in warm water and then apply a dusting of salt and let it sit for a few hours. If this doesn’t do the trick, you can also try a non-chlorine bleach on whites.

Makeup

Every woman has experienced getting a little makeup on her collar or somewhere on her clothes. Makeup can get really messy and is also difficult to get out of clothes, especially thick foundations and colored lipsticks. For lipstick, dab the stain with rubbing alcohol until it is gone, then wash as normal. For liquid foundations/concealers and self-tanner stains, you can try rubbing alcohol, oil-free makeup remover, or baby wipes for when you caught the stain right away. If not, try soaking your shirt in warm water and add oxygenated bleach for a few hours, then wash as normal.

Tomato-Based Foods

Is there anything worse than getting spaghetti sauce on your white cap sleeve shirt? Well, probably, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not annoying! Tomato-based food stains are especially difficult to get out of clothes because they are usually made with oil. The best bet for fighting oily tomato stains is to use a good dishwashing soap that can fight grease. Rub the dishwasher liquid in with your fingers and rinse and repeat until the oil is broken down and then wash as you normally would.

Don’t let pesky stains keep you from wearing your favorite clothes! Even the toughest of stains can be removed, it just requires a little more time and using the right products. For more clothing tips and to browse our selection of quality layering shirts, visit HeirloomClothing.com today!

How to Conquer Wardrobe Boredom

12 Apr 2019

Whether your wardrobe is big or small, everyone relates to that feeling of being bored with the same old clothes. But it is not realistic to buy a brand new wardrobe just because you are bored. If that were the case, we’d all be broke and overwhelmed with clutter. At Heirloom Clothing, we take pride in creating quality clothes that are truly timeless. We also know a thing or two about fashion and can help you learn to love your wardrobe again. Keep reading to find out our tips and tricks to help you get over wardrobe boredom.

TIPS

Look for inspiration. From time to time, we all suffer from a feeling of our wardrobe being a tad stale. If you are currently feeling this, seek some fresh inspiration. The best ways to find fashion inspiration is to hop onto Pinterest or Instagram to find some new ideas to make you feel powerful and confident in your wardrobe again. Another great way to find inspiration is to check the websites of the clothing companies you like. Seeing pictures of outfits they match together can help you to figure out new ways to pair up your current wardrobe. Knowing how to use layering shirts in a new way and alter your accessories for different outfits will make your wardrobe feel brand new. Whenever you see an outfit you like on social media or on a clothing website, try to use your own clothes to recreate it.

Declutter your closet: Another important step to getting over wardrobe boredom is to get rid of all the excess clothes in your closet. Having old clothes that you never wear taking up space in your closet makes it harder for you to find outfits you love. Throw out anything that you haven’t worn for at least a year and don’t think about it again. This goes for anything else in your closet that you just don’t love, not just old clothes.

Store seasonal items: Put away anything that is not currently in season. If you aren’t going to wear it now anyway, there is no reason to stare at it. Your wardrobe will be more boring if it is full of things you can’t currently wear. During the summer, store all your long sleeve layering shirts and break out your cap sleeve shirts for some sunshine fun.

Refresh occasionally: It is important to get a couple new items every season in order to keep your closet feeling fresh. It adds a whole new element to a rather similar closet. Plan ahead and purchase a few seasonal pieces like new cap sleeve shirts, tanks or a new pair of shorts for the summer.

Accessorize: Accessories are one of the easiest ways to keep your outfits looking different. You don’t have to have a lot of accessories to succeed with this. Simply changing your necklace or shoes will make your outfit feel completely new.

Mix it up: Try new combinations you have never tried before. This is where looking for inspiration could come in handy. Randomly take certain items from your wardrobe and pair them together to see how they turn out. This is where layering shirts and jackets and accessories come in to really shake up the look.

Don’t settle for wardrobe boredom any longer. You have attractive clothes that can make you feel powerful and confident! Use these different tips to overcome boredom with your closet, and to gain more inspiration, check out the rest of our website! We have the best selection of essential shirts (tanks, long sleeves, cap sleeve shirts and other layering shirts), as well as other options.

How to Be Inspired By Your Clothes

12 Apr 2019

It happens to every woman. You look in your closet and see it full of clothes, however, you feel that you have absolutely nothing to wear. In fact, you have lots of different outfit options but you are just tired of the pieces in your closet. So what do you do? You hit the stores, looking for some new pieces to freshen up your closet and add some new looks to your wardrobe, right?… Well, what happens when you get tired of these pieces in a few weeks? Shopping is not ALWAYS the solution to a worn out wardrobe. Here at Heirloom, we not only have the best essential layering shirts but great fashion tips as well. Here are a few ways you can get inspired by your clothes.

Clean Out Your Closet

If your closet is full of clothes that don’t fit you or are out of style, no wonder you feel that you have nothing to wear. The first step in maximizing your wardrobe is cleaning out your closet and getting rid of any items that you no longer wear or like. A good rule of thumb when cleaning out your closet is, if you haven’t worn it in the last year, throw it out. However, don’t go overboard and throw out every single item you are tired of wearing; you can’t be inspired by your clothes if you get rid of them all!

Look at Inspiration Photos

Another great tip for getting excited about your wardrobe is to look at some inspiration photos. Pinterest is a great tool for doing this. You can search for outfits based on pieces you already have in your closet. For example, you can search, “white cap sleeve shirt outfit” or “how to wear floral blouses,” and find a list of results that will steer you in the right direction. This way, you can see how different women are wearing the same items that you have in your closet, just in a new way.

Formulate Outfits

Many women like to create outfit “formulas” so they can get dressed quickly in the morning and not waste time thinking about what to wear. A good example of an outfit “formula” is a plain layering shirt, with a patterned or bright colored top layer (sweater, cardigan, jacket, blouse, etc.), a pair of jeans, ankle boots, and a necklace. Another good formula is a simple dress, with heels, a jacket or cardigan, and completed with some jewelry. When you create formulas, you start with simple essential pieces and build on from that, utilizing different pieces in your closet that you wouldn’t normally wear.

Ask for an Outside Opinion

The last tip in maximizing your wardrobe is to ask for an outside opinion on some of the pieces in your closet. Invite your girlfriends over for some lunch, and after, head back to your closet to get their opinion on some of your outfits. You can ask them how they would wear certain pieces; your friends may be full of wonderful ideas. You might look at a layering shirt and have a completely different idea than your friend does, and swapping ideas can open up a world of possibilities.

It’s easy to get bored of your clothes, but it’s also easy to get inspired by your clothes and come up with some new and attractive outfit ideas. For more fashion tips and to browse our incredible selection of essential layering shirts and fashion items, visit the rest of our website today!

How to Clean Out Your Closet

12 Apr 2019

Cleaning your closet isn’t the most exciting but is a needed task in order to avoid excess clutter and make room for new clothing. Failure to clean out your closet can lead to lost clothing items and frustrating mornings. Wouldn’t you much rather take the time to clean every once in a while instead of spending every morning sifting through an endless mess? If you’re struggling to find a place to start when it comes to cleaning your closet, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Here are some tips you can use when it comes to cleaning your closet that will ensure a quick and painless experience.

Remove Everything from Your Closet

The best way to start the cleaning process is by taking every single item out of your closet. Cleaning out your entire closet is a sure way to assess your current wardrobe situation. Once everything is removed, you can figure out what you’re going to keep and what you’re going to get rid of. If you don’t initially empty out your closet, you’re going to ignore forgotten clothing items that are buried behind your favorite jeans, jackets or layering shirts.

Keep the Necessities — Trash the Outdated and Forgotten

You need to come to terms with the fact that you need to let go of some of your old clothing. When cleaning out your closet, you’ll want to throw out any clothing that you haven’t worn for a while to make room for new clothing items you might buy in the future. One major tip you should really consider when cleaning out your closet is to keep your basics. Clothing items like a layering shirt or a cap sleeve shirt are a timeless staple item in any outfit so you might want to hold on to them.

Once you decide on what you’re going to keep, you’ll want to get rid of any clothing items that you aren’t using in order to avoid creating clutter all over again. As mentioned before, things like a layering shirt or cap sleeve shirt are going to be items that you’ll want to keep, but seasonal items that you haven’t worn in years might not have room in your wardrobe.

Reorganize

Once all the clutter is taken care of, you’re going to need to reorganize your closet. Try to make sure that you put all of the clothing that you use frequently somewhere you’ll always see. Separate other clothing items by style or color to make it easier for when you are looking for an outfit in the morning.

It will take some work to get your wardrobe all cleaned up, but once it’s all done and over with, you’ll see that you’ll have less clutter and have a much easier time getting ready each day. If you’re looking for a few essential items to add to your wardrobe after getting rid of some unnecessary ones, check out the selection here at Heirloom Clothing.

Five Elements of a Quality Shirt

12 Apr 2019

At Heirloom, we believe that every shirt should provide you with comfort, coverage and provide timeless, durable wear. To us, there are five attributes that our shirts contain that do just this and they are listed below.

Tag-less Design

The beginning to all comfortable shirts is a tag-less design. There are still some companies that are placing their tags on the back of the neck or elsewhere, but with that kind of subtle irritation, would you seriously consider that piece of clothing, “top-quality?” To appease everyone, all of our shirts — tanks, cap sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, or other layering shirts — are made without any tags.

A Neckline with Coverage

Some of the styles you find today require that you wear some kind of layering shirt, but if they don’t give you the coverage you are looking for, what is the point? Whether you are layering or simply looking to wear something without showing too much of your chest, you’ll find that Heirloom products have a neckline that provides you with more coverage than most; they are great with clothing that is low-cut.

Resilient Stitching

One of the ways clothing companies cut corners is by settling for cheaper manufacturing and, in turn, stitching that unravels too easily. Whether its a string on the seam or behind a button, no one wants clothes that are coming apart — literally! No matter what your day entails or how long you use one of our shirts, you want to be sure that the stitching will stay intact.

Soft but Strong Fabric

Arguably, the most important aspect of all quality clothing is a material that will last! There are a lot of brands out there that sell clothing with the latest trends but fail to give them the quality they need. You may love some of the designs and characteristics of a shirt, but after washing it once or twice, the color begins to fade and it begins to lose its shape. For this reason, our shirts are custom made in order to withstand the typical wear and tear that shirts receive. Wash after wash, an Heirloom cap sleeve shirt or tank top will retain its soft fabric and stretchability. This is truly beneficial when you rely heavily on these shirts to give you the comfort that you want and the ability to move as you need.

Longer length

The last attribute that makes a quality shirt is the length. Sometimes you’ll have a regular shirt or a layering shirt that you are constantly trying to pull down. Heirloom's essential shirts provide longer lengths to cover low cut pants, shorts or skirts. No more worry about bending over!

These five qualities give your shirt complete coverage, a longer lifespan, and the comfort to make anyone happy. Obviously, different trends call for different styles, but for a quality shirt that can be used almost anytime, you’ll want an essential shirt from Heirloom Clothing. To see more, check out our fabulous line of selections today.

Discovering Your Personal Style

05 Apr 2019

Have you ever looked in your closet and felt completely uninspired? What about walked into a clothing store and felt overwhelmed by the many different styles and clothing options? Moments like this happen when you are unsure of your personal style.

Most women redefine their personal style many times throughout their lives. As you get older and as trends continue to change, you are going to have to figure out what clothes make you feel confident and beautiful continuously. Here at Heirloom Clothing, a brand with all the essential layering shirts and fashion items you need, we’ve created some tips for you on how to discover your personal style.

Find Style Inspiration

One of the best ways to figure out what styles you’re into is to look at some photos of celebrities or fashion icons. Pinterest is a great tool for doing this. There are fashion icons and bloggers for any age group, so if you are over 40 and not wanting to dress like your teenage daughter, you don’t have to!

When you look for style inspiration, you can get a good idea of what styles and cuts you like and then shop for similar pieces in the stores. If you see a photo of someone wearing a cute and simple cap sleeve shirt, try looking for some of these next time you shop. You can even pull inspiration from several sources to find exactly what you like and dislike.

Clean Out Your Closet

Cleaning out your closet is a great way to get a better idea of what your personal style is. As you are cleaning out your closet, try getting rid of items that you haven’t worn in over a year, as well as items that don’t make you feel confident. Perhaps you choose to keep your favorite layering shirts and get rid of an old tight blouse or a baggy pair of jeans.

Look for Repeat Items in Your Wardrobe

As you clean out your closet, look for repeated items. If it seems like you have a lot of plain cap sleeve shirts, pea coats or ankle boots, this is a sign that you like wearing these items. This is a great start to defining your personal style. However, since you already have a few of these items, try to avoid purchasing more of them unless they are worn out. It’s a good idea to have a few signature pieces, but you should also try to branch out and see what other items you like.

Consider If Your Wardrobe Fits Your Lifestyle

What you choose to wear each day depends a lot on your lifestyle. Do you go to the office each day and need to dress professionally? Are you working around your house and taking care of kids? Whatever your lifestyle is, you need a wardrobe that matches it. Think about all the different scenarios you are in during the week, then decide if you have pieces and outfits to wear at each of these events.

Trust Your Instincts

The last tip for discovering your personal style is to trust your style instincts. If you see a bright colored layering shirt or a funky pair of shoes that you like, don’t ignore that instinct! Just because it doesn’t match the rest of your wardrobe or seems out of your comfort zone doesn’t mean that you won’t feel confident while wearing it. Trusting your style instincts is the best way to figure out your personal style. It’s all about what you love, not what others think!

Discovering your personal style doesn’t have to be challenging. By following these tips, you can easily transform your wardrobe and find a variety of clothing that you love. For more fashion tips or to browse our selection of comfortable layering shirts, visit Heirloomclothing.com.

Fashion Throughout the Decades

05 Apr 2019

Today, women have access to a wide array of clothing items and styles. From a comfortable layering shirt to a classy dress, there are limitless options when it comes to your outfit choice, but has it always been this way?

Over the years, fashion has changed, and today, we’re going to look into the women’s side of fashion throughout the past century. Trends tend to come and go as time goes on, but we currently live during a time that has been called, “the mash-up decade,” but let’s go back a few years. Eras such as the 1980s, 1990s and even the 1950s all had very specific trends and fashion styles that spanned across the country. Here are some of the different trends from decade to decade.

The Roaring Twenties

The twenties brought about a new sense of freedom to women across the country and it also brought about the “flapper” era. Before this new era emerged, women usually dressed a bit older than their actual age, but modernity caught up to fashion after the implementation of the 19th Amendment. Women soon began ditching their constricting clothing and began wearing looser fitting and more comfortable clothing; the most popular amongst the new styles consisted of flapper style dresses and cloche hats.

The 1950s — Post-War Era

After the stock market crash, fashion trends took a hit due to the public’s financial inability to live comfortably. However, the beginning of the 1950s saw the revival of the fashion craze. The economic boom and push toward consumerism gave women access to several types of fabrics. To this day, we still see some of these styles and fabrics in everyday clothing like a layering shirt or a pea coat.

While we mentioned that the twenties brought about fashion freedom, women in the fifties were again expected to dress in certain ways, but many women conformed to this newly established fashion standard. Styles that were popular in the fifties included mid-calf hemlines, dresses with bright flowing colored skirts, form-fitting knee-length pencil skirts and tight girdles.

The 1960s

The 1960s introduced unisex clothing, a movement among the youth that aimed to reject the emphasis on conformity and other cultures. The leather jacket was a primary example of a clothing item which was made unisex in the sixties. Originating in the fifties, the “greaser’ style became popular in the sixties. Leather jackets were oftentimes paired with a form-fitting layering shirt and distressed jeans.

The 1970s

The years that past during the late 1960s and the 1970s are widely known for popularizing the “hippie” movement, which brought about clothing items such as long maxi skirts, bell-bottomed jeans, bright tie-dye shirts and paisley patterns.

During the late seventies, a tight-fitting layering shirt and loose-fitting bottoms combo could be seen virtually everywhere across the country, and unisex clothing became a staple item. Bold patterns, sports jackets and baggy sweaters also became particularly popular during this era.

The 1980s — Era of Pop

The styles which thrived in the 1980s were similar to those of the late seventies, but women also began wearing skin-tight cotton leggings, oversized sweaters and off-the-shoulder-tops. Parachute pants also made their debut in the eighties.

The 1990s — Fashion Minimalism

While the eighties brought about bright clothing, the nineties gave way to a more minimalistic fashion trend. During this era, women wore relaxed fit jeans, a plain t-shirt or sometimes a layering shirt, flannel shirt and stonewashed jeans — colors ranging from gray to darker shades of green. When it comes to footwear, Doc Martens leather boots were probably the most popular shoe during the nineties, along with classic Vans.

The 2000’s — Anything Goes

As mentioned at the beginning of this blog, our modern era is the “mash-up” era where anything goes. Today, you’ll see a blend of new, unique styles as well as older styles; trend fusions have become the new norm. Clothing from older generations are considered “vintage,” and you can find a great number of people that support that style. Today, you can see women wearing anything from bell bottoms, layering shirts, neon clothing, and even denim and leather jackets. At the same time, while many people wear trends from the past, there are still plenty of new styles as well.

Fashion trends have changed throughout the decades and they continue to today, but you can take a trip through time by wearing anything from the different eras. From a layering shirt to a classic leather jacket, there is no style that you can’t flaunt.

Closet Organization Tips

05 Apr 2019

A cluttered or disorganized closet is the worst thing to deal with when you are rushing to find the perfect outfit before work, school or anything else you will be doing that day. A disorganized closet not only hinders your routine but may end up hiding your favorite clothes. At Heirloom Clothing, we have researched tips and tricks to organize your closet so that you can find all your favorite outfits and layering shirts with ease.

Maintaining an organized closet is always an ongoing process. However, there are certain things you can do to make sure that you never spend more than 20 minutes rearranging your clothes ever again. Here are several steps that will help you keep your closet organized for good.

Begin by Decluttering

Before you even begin reorganizing your closet, you will need to go through all your stuff and get rid of some of the things cluttering your space. Sift through your clothes by type like pants, dresses, tops, layering shirts, accessories and undergarments, and then sort every item into the proper category. This will help you stay calm and not get overwhelmed. As you sort through all your stuff, keep the clothes you know you love and will wear often. If you have old clothing that no longer looks good, swap it out with a replacement. If any item of clothing isn’t something you absolutely love, get rid of it or donate it.

Clean Out Your Closet

Once you have thrown out the clothes you don’t wear and have found all the clothes that you want to keep, clean out your entire closet. Take everything out so that you can start over fresh. If you do this once, you won’t have to do it again and again as long as you continue to maintain your closet.

Plan Out Your Closet Space

Once you have cleaned out your closet, don’t rush to put everything back in. Make a plan of exactly where you want everything; where you put your layering shirts, your blouses, your pants, shoes and so on should be planned out. This will help you organize your closet quickly and efficiently.

Hang Anything That is Delicate or “Fancy”

When it comes to things like dress shirts, dresses and fancier clothing, you’ll want to hang them to avoid any damage. However, there is no sense in hanging up a layering shirt if it means sacrificing space.

Create a Visually Appealing and Orderly Closet

You can also plan out how you are going to make your closet organization visually appealing. Many fashion experts suggest putting like things together — hanging your shirts and pants and organizing them by color. Start at the beginning of the rainbow and order your shirts so that you can find matching pieces faster. This will help you know where everything is and make it easier for you to not lose your favorite clothing. Matching hangers can also help your closet look even more visually pleasing.

Though these closet organization tips might take a while, it is worth it. These tips will give you the foundation you need to keep an orderly closet going forward, and doing so will help you get to where you need to go on time. At Heirloom, we strive to help you feel confident and fresh every single day. Drop by and get some nice essentials like our layering shirts to add to your newly organized closet.

What to Wear on a Lazy Day

29 Mar 2019

The weather is gloomy, you’re tired and the last thing you want to do is get ready for the day. You are feeling a bit lazy and worn down, and that’s OK. Every woman has days like this, where they are so tired from all their responsibilities and they just want to relax. Here at Heirloom Clothing, we have all the essential clothing items you need for the perfect lazy day outfit. Our layering shirts are comfortable and flexible enough to allow you to feel cozy yet stylish on those tiring days. Here are a few ideas on what to wear on a lazy day.

Oversized Sweaters

Oversized sweaters are one of the perfect outfit options for a lazy day. They will provide you with warmth and comfort while still looking stylish. You can choose to wear more of an open cardigan type sweater or a traditional sweater. For added comfort and coverage, add your favorite layering shirt underneath.

Flannels

Flannels are similar to oversized sweaters in that they will be both comfortable and stylish. Flannels give you a relaxed look and are fun to wear over either a cap sleeve shirt or tied around your waist. Flannels can be worn year round but are a great option for spring or fall when the weather is starting to transition.

Leggings/Sweat Pants

The key to a comfy lazy day outfit is the pants you choose to wear. Some women prefer a tight legging, while others prefer looser sweatpants. Pick whatever you feel most confident in and wear it with pride. Or, if loungewear isn’t your thing, your favorite pair of jeans or any comfy pant you own will work just fine.

Favorite T-Shirt

Your comfiest, favorite t-shirt is one of the best things you can choose to wear on a day you are feeling tired and worn down. Whether you choose to wear a comfy cap sleeve shirt or a baggy t-shirt you’ve had for years is up to you. You can wear your favorite t-shirt by itself, or under a light jacket if you are going to be outside.

Scarfs

If the weather is still a bit chilly, a knit scarf is the perfect accessory to your lazy day outfit. A thick scarf thrown over a long sleeve layering shirt is a classic look. Pair this with your favorite pants and add an attractive pair of ankle boots or slippers.

Cozy Socks

What is a lazy day outfit without a pair of cozy socks? Even if it’s warm outside, you can never go wrong with some cozy socks. Try showing off your socks by wearing them outside your pant leg and adding some ankle boots or a pair of moccasin slippers.

Lazy day outfits don’t have to look grungy. It’s possible to look chic and stylish while wearing your comfiest clothes. For more comfy and well-fitting clothing options, visit Heirloom Clothing’s website to shop their selection of essential items.

What to Pack in Your Gym Bag

29 Mar 2019

Finding time to go to the gym amongst your busy schedule can be difficult. It seems that no matter how hard you try to fit the gym into your daily routine, something else always comes up that seems to be more pressing. There just isn’t enough time to get ready for the gym, complete your workout, and then head home to get ready before needing to get to your next commitment. However, if you pack your gym bag in advance, you can simply grab it and go without wasting excessive time. Here are a few essentials that you should keep in your gym bag.

Gym Clothes

This one is pretty obvious, but even if you choose to wear your exercise clothes to the gym, it’s always smart to pack an extra set. Many women prefer to keep an extra cap sleeve shirt in their bag in case their workout shirt happens to get a little too soiled. In addition to an extra essential shirt, throw in your favorite workout pants and shoes. It’s also a good idea to pack an extra sports bra as well as underwear and socks.

Another reason it’s smart to have an extra set of clothes in your bag is if you want to change into something clean after your workout. By changing out of your sweaty exercise shirt and into a clean long sleeve layering shirt, you can automatically feel a little cleaner and more refreshed.

Headphones

Headphones are a must when going to the gym. Is there anything worse than getting to the gym and realizing you forgot your headphones? No, there really isn’t. In order to ensure that you never forget your headphones, invest in a pair that you use specifically for the gym and keep them in your gym bag at all times. You won’t ever have to worry about having to exercise without your favorite podcast, TV show or music playing in your ears.

Reusable Water Bottle and Snacks

A reusable water bottle is one of the best things you can take to the gym as it will help you stay hydrated throughout your workout. In addition, you should keep a few snacks in your bag. These snacks will come in handy either before or after your workout when you are feeling a little light-headed and need some nourishment.

Hair Accessories

The only thing that might be worse than forgetting your headphones at the gym is forgetting a hair tie. Sweating is no fun, especially not with your hair getting matted to your neck and face. Just as you would pack an extra cap sleeve shirt, you should pack a few extra hair ties or headbands, as well as a comb or brush in your bag to save you from any hair emergencies.

Toiletries

This is something that many people don’t think to keep in their gym bag, but if you are planning on cleaning up at the gym and heading straight to your next errand, toiletries will be a necessity. Deodorant, perfume, dry shampoo and a little makeup can help you feel refreshed after you exercise. If you plan on showering at the gym, make sure to bring a towel as well as any shower essentials. Try packing these items in travel-sized tubes so they don’t take up too much room in your bag.

Plastic Bags

This one might sound weird, but some women prefer to bring some plastic or grocery bags to stick their dirty clothes in after their workout. You don’t want your sweaty layering shirt stinking up everything in your bag.

There you have it, all the essential items you should pack in your gym bag. Once your gym bag is packed and ready to go, you can quickly run to the gym, get your workout in, clean up and get on with the rest of your day. If you are needing some new workout shirts, head over to Heirloom Clothing’s website to view our selection of essential and cap sleeve shirts. These shirts are perfect for both exercising and everyday wear.

How to Shop on a Budget

29 Mar 2019

Almost every woman loves to shop. Whether it’s shopping for your husband and kids or simply wandering around the stores getting some fashion inspiration, shopping never seems to get old. As much as you love shopping, your wallet probably doesn’t. Shopping can get expensive quickly and you can end up spending a lot more money than you planned to. Before you plan your next shopping outing with your girlfriends or daughters, here are a few tips to help you learn how to shop on a budget.

Resist Impulse Buys

Impulse buys are one of the easiest ways to spend more money than you wanted to. Just because something is cheap doesn’t mean you should buy it. In fact, with impulse buying, you end up spending more money on inexpensive clothes than you would on an expensive, high-quality item.

Typically, impulse buys happen with cheaper items that you might find in stores like Target or Walmart. Instead of buying a cheap t-shirt that’s on sale for $5 at Target, save your money for a better quality and longer lasting cap sleeve shirt from a reliable brand.

Review What You Own

Before hitting the stores, take a look at the items you already have in your closet. If you see a lot of one item or one color, resist buying these items in the store. You will save a lot of money by not buying items you already have. If you see a bunch of items you no longer wear or that do not fit, try selling or donating them to make room in your closet for new items. Selling your clothes online or at consignment stores is a great option! You will end up with a little more cash in your pocket and can utilize that money on some new clothes that you will actually wear.

Shop for Classics

When shopping, try to stick to classic items that will look good with a variety of different pieces and that will look good season after season. Items like essential layering shirts, practical jeans and pants, and neutral shoes will go a long way. To take your outfits to the next level by adding some accessories that follow current trends.

Shop with Cash

Instead of paying with your credit card, take cash to the stores. When you pay with a credit card, you don’t pay as much attention to how much you are actually spending nor the impact it’s making on your bank account. If you are really looking to shop on a budget, maybe only bring around $200 (or whatever amount you are looking to spend) in cash. That way, you will know exactly how much money you have left after each purchase. In addition, you won’t go over budget if you only have cash on you.

Look for Deals

Unless you are in desperate need for something, there is no need to buy it right away. If you see an item you like in the store, try waiting a few days to see the brand introduces a new deal or if the item goes on sale. With both in-store and online options, you are likely to see that cap sleeve shirt that you’ve had your eye end up on a sale. In addition, if you see that your favorite store is having a sale, try perusing their selection to see if there’s anything you could really use. With so many deals happening both in store and online, there’s no reason you should pay full price for anything.

Shopping on a budget is doable, and you can still find the classic items that you love. Both your closet and your wallet will thank you when you choose to shop on a budget. If you have been looking for some new, affordable, stylish and comfortable clothing, check out our selection of layering shirts and fashion items at Heirloom.

The Most Slimming Colors

29 Mar 2019

We all want clothes that will flatter our body shape and hide the places we don’t love. There are some fashion tricks to make you look slimmer — nobody wants to appear ten pounds heavier than they actually are. You may know that certain patterns or a jacket cut in just the right way can make you look thinner, but did you know that color can as well?

Here at Heirloom Clothing, we know various fashion tricks to help you look slimmer every time. Whether it’s a layering shirt or a pair of pants, depending on the color of any outfit will alter how you look. Keep on reading to find out exactly what colors you should wear to look slim everyday.

Which Colors Are Slimming

Black: The most commonly worn color to look slimmer is black. Black always makes you look both slim and elegant. Not only will wearing black make you look slimmer but it also gives you all the options you need to match with just about anything. Head-to-toe black is a classic style. A black layering shirt with a black cardigan or black leather jacket and some black pants looks incredible. Wearing all black ensures that you will not only look thinner but feel more at ease with your body and move with confidence.

Darker Colors: Darker colors like black automatically make you look slimmer. Darker shades of colors like purple, brown, gray and blue can help to hide any areas of concern. Wearing these dark colored layering shirts under dresses, overalls, jackets or anything else ensures you will look slim and fit. Another reason to wear darker colors is because colors like white and khaki add pounds and make your frame look even larger.

Colors: Bright colors draw a lot of attention to whatever area they are worn on. So if you have something you don’t want to emphasize, whether it be a large chest or a big belly, be cautious when you choose to wear a bright cap sleeve shirt or layering shirt. Stay away from bright pants if you are wanting to look slim in your bottom or your hips. However, adding small pops of color on top of a neutral layering shirt can help you look very thin.

How to Wear Slimming Colors

Balancing out your body and accentuating the right places is key to look thin and attractive. The best way to balance out your body is to wear a combination of both dark and light colors. Wherever you want to attract the eye is where you should wear a lighter color. If you have a wider chest, then wear a dark cap sleeve shirt with a lighter pair of pants to accentuate your long legs. If you want to bring the eye ups, wear a lighter cap sleeve shirt and darker colored pair of jeans or pants.

If you follow these few simple tips, you won’t have to worry about your trouble areas. These tips are accurate suggestions from many different fashion designers and stylists. Obviously, the number one rule when shopping for clothes is to wear what you feel great in. It is so important that you pick essentials that make you feel the best. If you are in need of some attractive slim essentials, pick up a few layering shirts and cap sleeve shirts from our essential collection.

Fashion for Women Over 40

20 Mar 2019

No matter your age, fashion should be fun and make you feel comfortable and confident. It is tough for many women over 40, 50, 60 and beyond to know how to put together a clothing wardrobe that is flattering and age appropriate. Many women struggle feeling that the clothes they currently wear are dated, but also feel silly when they try on the latest fashion trends. So we’ve decided to help out. Check out below for some tips and tricks on how to find your style over 40.

Styles That Are Too Young

One of the common concerns women over 40 have about their clothes is that they feel like they try to look younger and it doesn’t always work. Many woman avoid dressing in certain styles in fear that the styles are more suitable for younger woman. Then there are some others that dress in styles trying to look younger but seem to somehow look older and sometimes a bit silly. An example of this are women who wear skirts that are too short.

The solution to this concern is to create a wardrobe built on clothes and styles that appropriately fit you. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Even if you can fit into junior clothes, be careful in those departments.
  • When you wear any kind of cap sleeve shirt or plain colored t-shirt, be cautious with too many accessories that shine and sparkle too much.
  • Focus on fit instead of size. Especially when wearing tops like layering shirts or other essential shirts, don’t get trapped by only wanting to wear a certain size. Too tight can make you look heavier and older. Buy clothes that really fit your body shape.

Fashion Trends

Make sure to check out all the latest fashion trends to find the right clothes and accessories. Finding practical and stylish outfits doesn’t have to be difficult. Being over 40 doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style. While on the one hand it is suggested to avoid certain styles that look too young, the same goes for styles that look too old. Don’t buy stuff that makes you look older. You aren’t in your seventies, so there are still fun ways to make bright colors look amazing on you. Some things to avoid are thick rimmed glasses, chain jewelry, older cardigans, and granny shoes.

Fashion doesn’t have to end just because you are getting older; you can still look and feel amazing at any age. Invest in some quality clothes and essential layering shirts or cap sleeve shirts in order to build up a timeless wardrobe that you can feel comfortable and confident in every single day.

While the wearability of some trendy pieces may wax and wane, there are some great fabrics and designs that really never go out of style. Don’t feel like fashion is a boat that you just missed as you grow older, you can always find something that works for you. To get back at it, take a look at our selection at Heirloom Clothing, today!

Online vs. In-Store Shopping

20 Mar 2019

In-store or online shopping, which one do you prefer? For some people, they love the thrill of going into a store and seeing items they want in-person. Other individuals try to avoid the stores as much as possible. It could be because shopping in stores takes too much time, or maybe because the stores can get crowded. With tons of online store options, you can easily do all the shopping you need to without ever leaving your home. Whether you are shopping for clothes, home accessories, appliances or even toys for your kids, you can find anything both online and in-stores. How you do your shopping is all a matter of preference.

At Heirloom Clothing, we know that not every woman has the time to go shopping for the things they need. This is why we have created both in-store and online shopping options so that you can shop for your favorite layering shirts anytime, anywhere. Here are a few benefits of both online and in-store shopping that women love.

Online Pros

One of the best benefits of shopping online is the convenience. You can quickly order everything that you need either for you or your family and have it shipped right to your house. Essentials like cap sleeve shirts, accessories, pants, shoes and jackets can all be found online. You can get clothes for the whole family without having to deal with crowded stores.

When shopping online, many brands offer free returns or in-store returns, so if the product you bought doesn’t fit right or isn’t quite what you wanted, you can easily return/exchange it. More and more stores are also offering free-shipping, making online shopping cheaper and more convenient than ever.

Another benefit to shopping online is you can get the best deals. Many clothing stores have special online-only discounts or will send coupons right to your email. Although some companies can clutter your inbox with emails, it's always a good idea to sign up for email lists so that stores can notify you of the best deals — how else will you know when your favorite layering shirts are on sale?

In-Store Pros

If shopping is one of your favorite past-times, then you probably love going into a store and looking at all the items. Even with all the online shopping options, in-store shopping will probably never go away because of how much people love shopping. You get to leave with your items right away, and if shopping for clothes, can try them on right in the store and not have to worry about making returns. It can be frustrating waiting a few days for that cap sleeve shirt you purchased online to arrive, all to find out it doesn’t fit right in the first place and you need a different size.

When you shop in a store, you also get the expertise of the clothing associates. Some stores offer free sizing or tailoring, something you won’t find when you order online. They can help you find the right sizes, as well as recommend certain items above others. Store associates aren’t just there to help you check out, they are trained to know how to help customers in any way possible.
Whether you enjoy shopping online, in-store or maybe even a combination of both, there’s a variety of different brands that offer all the products you could ever need. Whether you are searching for some new layering shirts to add to your closet or even a birthday gift for your best friend, there are lots of shopping options right at your fingertips. Visit Heirloom Clothing to check out our online selection of clothing, as well as find out where we are located so you can shop in-store!

Common Shopping Mistakes

20 Mar 2019

Have you ever left a clothing store feeling extremely frustrated? Maybe it was the lack of finding items you love, the extremely high prices, or even the feeling of nothing looking good on your body. Shopping is portrayed to be this exciting activity where you leave the stores with a bunch of attractive items. However, shopping can also be exhausting and discouraging. You can blame the store as much as you want for their lack of variety and low prices, but what many women don’t realize is that they are making shopping mistakes themselves. In this blog, we will cover some of the most common mistakes that women tend to make when shopping.

Don’t Know What You are Shopping For

Although its fun to just shop for no reason, you can really make a dent in your bank account if there’s not a specific item you are looking for. Before you hit the stores, really analyze your closet to see if there are any items you could use. Are you in need of a new cap sleeve shirt? Or maybe even a new pair of heels? Find your needs and purpose before anything else.

When you wander into a store without a goal in mind, you will find that you either buy stuff you don’t need, or you don’t buy anything because nothing appeals to you. Shopping is much easier and more productive if there are specific items you are looking for.

Focusing Too Much on Trends

There are some women who don’t pay attention to fashion trends at all, and some women who focus too much on fashion trends. You don’t want to be either of these women but rather somewhere in between. When you focus too much on trends, your clothes will quickly go out of style and you will find yourself shopping a lot more frequently than you need to.

Instead of only buying trendy items, look for more staple pieces. A few layering shirts can really expand your wardrobe options, as they are versatile and go with just about anything. Essential shirts like these will never go out of style, and will also look great with any trendy items you choose to buy.

Not Knowing What Looks Good on Your Body

Every woman should have a good idea of what their body shape is, as well as know what items look the best on them. If you venture into a store not knowing what items will look flattering on your body, you will spend a lot of time in the dressing room. You might even leave the store feeling frustrated that nothing worked for you. In addition to knowing what looks good on your body, you should know what brands look good on you as well.

If you don’t know what your body type is, there are many online sources that can help you figure out both your body type and clothing items that will flatter you best. One clothing item that is flattering on every body type is a layering shirt. Whether you prefer a cap sleeve shirt or more of a tank, you will fall in love with any essential shirt you wear. Start by shopping for a few of these until you are able to figure out what other clothing pieces you will look fantastic in.

If you make one of these shopping mistakes, it’s not the end of the world. By being aware of these mistakes, you will be able to improve your shopping experience and invest in pieces that will help you feel both confident and stylish. If you are shopping for some new staple pieces, check out Heirloom Clothing’s selection of comfortable and affordable layering shirts.

Spring Break Packing Tips

20 Mar 2019

Almost everyone is tired of the cold weather and itching for spring break. Warm weather, the pool and maybe possibly even a beach sounds pretty perfect, right? No matter where you are going for spring break, there are a few essential items that you will need to pack. Whether you are busy with kids, school or work, finding time to pack can be difficult. Because we know how busy you are, Heirloom Clothing created a few packing tips to help you get ready for the perfect vacation.

Create a Packing List

One of the best things you can do before getting ready for any trip is to create a packing list. Packing lists help ensure that you don’t forget any items that you will need, and can save you from having to buy them again when you hit your destination. Your packing list can be as broad or as detailed as you like, but the more detailed, the less likely you are to forget things.

Pack Light

As much as you might want to, you can’t bring your entire summer wardrobe with you on vacation. It won’t all fit into your suitcase anyways. The most important thing to keep in mind when packing is to pack light. It’s spring break, so you will most likely be on the go every day, and carrying around too much stuff can keep you from having a good time.

Limit yourself to bringing one or two swimsuits and maybe a swim cover-up. Since you will be spending all day in your swimsuit, you probably will only need about one outfit per day. However, you can double up on outfits or pieces to keep your bag light. You won’t need a different pair of pants each day.

One of the best clothing items you can bring on spring break is a layering shirt. You can wear them over your swimsuit as a coverup, or underneath a cute blouse for a night out. Layering shirts are thin so they won’t take up too much room in your luggage, and you will be able to wear just one shirt with a variety of different outfits. We recommend bringing one or two cap sleeve shirts with you on your vacation.

Shoes and jackets will probably be your bulkiest items, so don’t go overboard when packing them. If you can, wear your jacket on the plane or in the car. In addition, only pack the shoes you will absolutely need. For spring break, a pair of flip flops and a cute pair of wedge sandals is probably all that you will need. If you are planning on doing some hiking, make sure to pack some hiking or running shoes.

Bring the Travel Necessities

One of the biggest reasons for packing light is so that you will have room for the essentials. Depending on your vacation and the activities you have planned, your essentials will differ. Think about what you have planned and figure out what items you will need from home for those activities. If you are going to the beach, you might want to pack a beach bag with sunscreen, sunglasses, an extra cap sleeve shirt, a hat and a book. Most hotels will provide towels, so you won’t have to worry about packing a beach towel.

Medication and toiletries are often the most forgotten items, so make sure you pack everything you will need. A travel pack of Advil and a few bandaids in your purse can really save you, especially if you are doing a lot of walking and start to get blisters.

Although toiletries are important, don’t forget your technology essentials too. You will need your phone charger, headphones and maybe even a tablet to watch movies or read a few e-books. If you have one, a portable charger will be your best friend on long days where you won’t be going back to your hotel or rented home.

Packing can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be when you follow these spring break packing tips. For more clothing ideas to pack for spring break, visit Heirloom Clothing’s website for a variety of stylish layering shirts and vacation clothes.

What Style of Essential Shirt is Right for You?

13 Mar 2019

With hundreds upon thousands of options to choose from, it can be hard to find something that you’ll wear more than once. There are different clothing styles for different personalities, and if you aren’t sure what your style is, you’re going to have to experiment with different clothing items until you find a combination that suits your personal needs.

No matter who you are, there is one specific clothing item that looks good on just about anyone — an item that fits into any outfit — an essential shirt. Whether you are using your essential shirt as a layering shirt or as a standalone shirt, they also come in all different style. While choosing the perfect shirt style all comes down to preference, here are some tips on how to choose the perfect essential shirt for you.

The Cap Sleeve Shirt

A cap sleeve shirt is perhaps the most common essential shirt around. This shirt is a great option for any woman because they can be worn both underneath clothes or as a standalone classic; just make sure that you size up if you’re wanting to wear the shirt on its own. When it comes to layering your outfits, a cap sleeve shirt is a great option. If you’re looking for a comfortable top, the cap sleeve shirt is going to be the way to go.

Long Sleeve Scoop Necks

During the colder months, a long sleeve scoop neck is the best option to go with. Not only can they be used as a standalone shirt but they look amazing underneath a vest or sweater as well. Because of their versatility, long sleeve scoop necks are an essential item for any woman’s wardrobe; they can be used in a casual outfit or in a more elegant manner when paired with the right accessories and bottoms.

Tank Tops

Tanks offer a lighter feel than their essential shirt counterparts and are great for covering bra straps. The straps cover more than camisoles but are still a go-to choice for the hot summer months. If you live an active life and are in need of a great essential shirt, tanks fit perfectly for those who are wanting to exercise. As with all essentials, the shirt’s overall flexibility makes it a great layering shirt option and will help you maintain your shape with its soft, stretchy fabric.

Camisoles

Camisoles offer a comfortable fit. For any woman who doesn’t love the idea of too much fabric around the shoulders, camisoles are a great choice. If you live in an especially warmer area, you’re going to want to go with a camisole.

3/4 Sleeve Shirts

If you’re looking for less form-fitting essentials that go well under your favorite cardigan or jacket, a 3/4 sleeve shirt may be your best option. Because these shirts fit loosely, they are great as a standalone shirt!

One of the best characteristics of a 3/4 sleeve shirt is that the neckline doesn’t hit too high or too low, it cuts at the perfect level; you’ll never have to worry about showing too much skin when bending or leaning. The shirt is a great switch up from the traditional long sleeve shirt.

The 1/2 Sleeve Shirt

Another less form-fitting shirt option is the 1/2 sleeve shirt. While this shirt also works as a standalone option, it functions nicely as a layering shirt under your favorite jacket. This shirt provides a flattering and confident look, and it can complete any outfit.

Each one of these shirts provides you with a great amount of flexibility and functionality while maintaining a comfortable and stylish feel. Once you’ve narrowed down what styles work best for you, don’t be afraid to do a little shopping to find additional essentials to complete your outfit! Style Tips For Your Body Type

13 Mar 2019

When you walk into a store, you have a general idea of what clothes will look great and what won’t. Each woman has a different body shape and aspects of their body that they either love or want to hide. However, since trends are always changing, you probably frequently try on new styles of clothes that you either like or dislike. In order to save yourself some time figuring it all out, here are some of our best tips on how to dress for your body type.

No matter what body type you are, you will find that a simple layering shirt or essential shirt will show off your body in all the right ways. Layering shirts are made with a slimming fabric that will smooth your curves while keeping you comfortable. The best part about an essential shirt is that they will give you a variety of ways to wear them with just about any fashion item made for your body type.

Smaller Waist

You always want to highlight your curves as much as possible. If your body type is curvier but you have a smaller waist, really try to emphasize your waist. Look for fashion items with a belt or wrap (could be a jacket, pants, dress or even a blouse), as well as high waisted pants and skirts that will draw attention to your midsection. If you like skirts, a pencil skirt is a great option because it will highlight your waist as well as help your curves stand out. Whatever you choose to wear, look for more fitted items rather than boxy cuts.

Bigger Midsection

If you tend to carry your weight in your stomach area, then flowy tops will be your best friend. Although many flowy tops are see-through, you can easily fix this problem by wearing a cap sleeve shirt underneath.

For the perfect pair of pants to wear with an elegant blouse, a low-waisted straight-leg pant will look great! On colder days, try wearing a long, loose-fitting coat to avoid having too much fabric bind around your midsection. In addition to straight-leg pants, a straight or shift dress will look the most flattering on you, as it will help show off your slim lower body while hiding your midsection.

Uniform Midsection

One of the hardest things about this body type is that you will want to make it look like you have more curves than you actually do. In order to do so, highlight your waist as much as possible by wearing cropped jackets and high waisted pants that taper. You can try to show off your legs by wearing a knee-length skirt. Skinny jeans are also a great way to draw attention to your legs!

Dresses that have a belt or cinch at the waist will help to display the smallest part of your waist and give off a more curvy look. As far as tops go, you can choose to wear more flowing tops or a more fitted top. A long sleeve layering shirt underneath a cropped denim jacket with a pair of black skinny jeans is the ideal outfit for you.

Narrow Top and Curvy Bottom

If you have a narrow top half, you will want to search for more boxy cuts. A structured jacket with a slim layering shirt underneath will help to elongate your body and draw attention to your top. Peplum tops are a wonderful option for this.

Dresses that are fitted up top but flare out at the waist will help smooth your curvy lower half. If you can, look for pieces that have more pattern or are more embellished to continue drawing attention to the upper half of your body.

There are plenty of clothing options for every body type, you just have to know what to look for! Although many women prefer to dress for their body type, don’t be afraid to wear what you love and what you feel confident in. Find what works for your body and your style, and don’t pay too much attention to the fashion rules. Be sure to check out Heirloom Clothing’s website for more style inspiration as well as the best selection of layering shirts.

What Color Shirt Should I Wear?

13 Mar 2019

One of the most frustrating things in the world is when you open your closet and stare into a clutter of clothing that you don’t know what to do with. Often times, you will stare blankly and think…what do I wear? How? What combinations work and which ones don’t?…Hitting a fashion rut isn’t fun, and when this happens, it’s best to take a step back and remember the basics.

Layering shirts are an essential clothing item that can be worn with virtually anything, plus they come in an array of colors to help you create various outfit combinations. These versatile pieces are simple yet chic and provide you with comfort and style. Black and white shirts might be the go-to shades when it comes to simple color-combos, but here are a few different ideas on how to wear different colored shirts based on the color of your bottoms.

Denim and Blue

Classic denim jeans or other blue bottoms — pants or skirts — can be paired with a variety of different colored shirts. Pink, red, orange and other vibrant colors look great with any shade of blue. You can also combine other shades of blue together, for example, a blue cap sleeve shirt with a lighter pair of blue jeans. Another great combo is comprised of grays and navy blue.

Black

Black bottoms are great because they can be work with any colored cap sleeve shirt to make it pop. If you’re opting to wear a more neutral outfit, pair your black pants or skirt with a cream, white, camel, grey or charcoal layering shirt. For a more colorful look, you can wear a bold red or bright yellow cap sleeve shirt.

Grey

Like black bottoms, grey matches well with most colors. But, the best colors to pair with grays are red, navy and purple. Lighter shades of grey can be paired with more bold colors while darker grays work best with lighter colored shirts.

Green

Green can act as an elegant color choice, especially olive and emerald shades. If you decide to wear a pair of green bottoms, neutral colored shirts will look best. A beige or white layering shirt can give your outfit a warmer tone, while a black or grey top will give your outfit a cooler tone.

White and Beige

This color palette is essentially the polar opposite of the black bottom choice. Lighter bottoms go well with shirts full of rich color — purple or Burgundy for example. You can also stick to a neutral look by wearing a charcoal or black cap sleeve shirt.

The options go on and on, but there really are patterns and combinations that work almost every time! Use this blog as a source of inspiration and go experiment with simple color combinations. If you’re in need of a few new layering shirts, check out our wide selection today.

2019 Spring Fashion

13 Mar 2019

Springtime is just about here, and with a new season comes new fashion trends. While there are many colors and pieces that are classic choices for each season, there are some styles that will really help you stand out this spring. At Heirloom Clothing, we are dedicated to helping women feel comfortable and confident in their clothing no matter what activity they are doing. Here are Heirloom’s 2019 spring fashion trends to help you achieve this.

Bright Colors

Bright and bold colors are really in style right now. Think 70s colors or rainbow-type styles. Bold colors like these can really make your entire outfit a statement piece and add a happy and bright tone to your outfit. Don’t be afraid to wear some layering shirts with colors that might be out of your comfort zone to help you stand out.

Lace Shirts

Although bold colors are in style, you can never go wrong with the classic spring pastel colors. Lace is really popular during spring, and a great way to wear lace is to find a light pink or cream cap sleeve shirt to wear underneath the pretty blouse of your choice. This is a beautiful look that you can wear with your everyday jeans or your formal pencil skirts.

Denim Jacket

If you want to stick to bold colors, try wearing a colored layering shirt underneath a simple denim jacket. Lime green, dark purple and sky blue are beautiful spring colors that are fantastic layering shirt options. Pair it with your favorite pair of black pants and a flattering pair of flats.

Wide Flare Pants

Going back to 70s fashion, wide leg or flare pants are coming back in style. You can wear these pants in any color or fabric, but a classic pair of flare jeans are one of the most popular. To keep the attention on your fun pair of pants, an essential shirt in any bold color will look good. If it is still a bit cold outside, a cropped jacket will look best with this look.

Mixing White and Bold Colors

White is a staple spring color and looks best with other bright colors. A great way to wear white is with a white V-neck blouse and a bold colored cap sleeve shirt underneath for a pop of color. White looks good with most colors but for a nice spring look, try a nice sky blue shirt.

Jumper Dresses

Jumper dresses are a fun way to layer and show off your legs as it starts to get warmer. Jumper dresses come in a variety of colors but a neutral colored jumper will look great with a bold orange or red long sleeve shirt underneath. Also, you can finally break out your favorite pair of wedges or sandals to wear with your jumper.

Statement Jackets

Layering is essential during spring because it will be cooler in the mornings and evenings and warmer during the day. Statement jackets are a great spring fashion item because they can keep you warm while still looking fashionable. A statement jacket over your favorite layering shirt will keep you warm when its cooler, and when it starts to heat up you can take off the jacket and still feel comfortable in your essential shirt.

Spring is the perfect time to start breaking out your warmer clothes and getting ready for summer. Hopefully, this blog provided you with some spring fashion inspiration and convinced you to invest in a few more layering shirts for your closet. How Fashion Can Help Build Your Confidence

07 Mar 2019

Having a healthy self-confidence is vital to your well-being. It is mentally and emotionally beneficial to feel good about yourself and it can make you more successful! There is a definite relationship between what we wear and how we feel. We all have certain outfits that make us feel strong, powerful or confident, and then we have outfits that do the opposite. Wearing clothes that make you feel important or attractive can change the way you interact with others as well as how you feel about yourself.

Studies have shown that dressing well really can boost your confidence in any area of your life. Whether or not we realize it, the way we feel about ourselves is often linked directly to our appearance. This means it is important to find clothes you love from clothing companies you love. At Heirloom Clothing, we work hard to make sure you look good and feel good every day in any of our essentials, like our cap sleeve shirts. We’ve compiled a list of things you can do to help you dress your best and build your confidence:

Wear Clothes That Fit

Take time to measure yourself properly and to try on your clothes before you buy. Whether or not your clothes fit can either make you feel confident and attractive, or uncomfortable and unattractive. Pick clothes, especially layering shirts, that fit you really well. Too many of us wear clothes that are either too big or too small. It is important to buy the right clothes that work for your body.

Invest in a Range of Quality Basics

This literally means having the basics, which are clothes that you can mix and match in various situations. When you have a wide range of basics, you never have that “I have nothing to wear” feeling. Investing in a range of good quality basic items builds your closet and in turn, can help you to feel more confident.

Some of the basics we have come up with include:

-A white shirt cap sleeve and long sleeve
-A black shirt cap sleeve and long sleeve
-Layering shirts like tanks, camis, 3/4 sleeve, etc.
-A signature dress
-A good quality blouse
-A blazer
-An A-line or a pencil skirt
-Fit Jeans
-A sweater or cardigan

Make sure to find pieces in these categories that fit your style and needs. Take the time you need to find the right pieces. Having these staples in your wardrobe gives you so many options, flexibility, and security.

Dress Appropriately for the Season/Occasion

Another way to feel confident and comfortable is to make sure you are dressed for the weather outside. Make sure you have a few light sweaters paired with a layering shirt for spring and fall, some flattering cap sleeve shirts and other lighter clothes for summer clothes, and some quality layering shirts and a nice coat for winter.

Likewise, you want to make sure you are always dressed to fit the occasion. Whatever your situation might be, wear whatever makes you feel the best. For example, if you are going to present at a business meeting you might want to wear a layering shirt and a blazer, or even a cap sleeve or long sleeve shirt with a pencil skirt. No matter what you are doing, wear clothing that you feel great in.

Take Time to Prepare

We have already stated that how you dress does affect how you and others perceive you. This also implies that it takes some time in order to figure out what you want to wear each day. Ironing and picking out your outfits the day before will help you to be ready for the day and feel strong and confident.

If You Don’t Feel Great in It, Donate It

This last step is really important. We often hang on to clothes for years with the thought, “Someday I might wear this.” If this is you, it is time to get rid of it. Any clothing that you do not like or that you don’t feel confident in should not be in your closet. Even if you have spent money on the item, if you do not like it or feel good in it, donate it. Somebody is bound to love it and it is okay if that somebody is not you. It is better to have fewer pieces that make you feel amazing and fit you perfectly rather than having a huge closet of things you don’t wear. If you don’t love it, let it go.

Find clothes you love and you’ll be sure to boost your self-confidence. If you are looking to build the basics in your closet, be sure to come to Heirloom Clothing for all your needed essentials.

How to Dress for Success

07 Mar 2019

It’s a common belief that the way you dress has an impact on your productivity. We often hear the phrase “dress for success,” but what does that really mean? Does the outfit itself have a direct impact on your productivity or is it the way the outfit makes you feel that influences your success? It only makes sense that wearing clothes that make you feel comfortable and beautiful will boost your confidence. With this comfort and fresh sense of confidence, you can be ready to power through your day with great success!

So how do you achieve this feeling through an outfit?

It can be as simple as an elegant layering shirt — an essential shirt can provides you with added comfort and coverage, no matter what outfit you choose to go with. A layering shirt is meant to move with you, and with it being one of the most versatile pieces of clothing on the market, it can also be paired with almost any outfit. Aside from a layering shirt, here are some more ways to dress for success.

Play with Textures

Textures are a great way to add diversity to your outfit. The best thing about adding texture to an outfit is that you can use anything from a fur coat or a think scarf, all the way down to corduroy pants. For example, one simple way to add texture to an outfit could be done by wearing a pair of jeans, your favorite layering shirt, and a large puffer coat.

Patterns

Patterns can help elevate a simple outfit and turn it into something classy. When opting to wear neutral colors, a patterned blouse can add some elegance to your outfit. One classic method of wearing patterns in an outfit is by using plaid dress pants paired with a simple layering shirt, blouse and a blazer. Alternatively, you can wear a plain pair of pants with a patterned blazer or blouse.

Utilize Bold Colors

Bold colors can make you stand out more more than neutrals. A bold pair of red jeans paired with a white cap sleeve shirt can seem too vibrant, but can work really well. Bold colors often look best when paired with classic black, grey or white pieces, but can ultimately be used with other bold colors ⎯ you can even combine bold colors with different patterns and textures.

Accessorize

To top of your successful outfit, you should always add accessories. Accessories such as necklaces, bracelets and earrings can really tie an outfit together, helping you radiate with even more confidence. Accessories can be simple, or they can be bold, but it all comes down to what outfit you’re choosing to wear for the day.

These are all amazing ways to dress for success, and no matter what your style is, you can rest assured that these ideas will help you craft the perfect outfit to help you have the confidence you need throughout your day.

To be sure that your outfit will work, a layering shirt is going to be the staple of most of these outfits, so make sure you head over to our website and check out the wide array of options we have available for you.

The Quality of Our Fabric

07 Mar 2019

One might wonder, what is the number one prerequisite to creating a high-quality wardrobe? We think that it is important to be able to recognize a quality garment when you see one. In order to build a high-quality wardrobe, you will need to be able to tell the difference between a durable, well-crafted piece and a piece that might look great but won’t even last through the wash. This can be a hard thing to tell when you are shopping for clothes and essentials like layering shirts. In order to help you recognize the properties of quality fabric, this post will give you the knowledge you need to assess the quality of clothes.

What is Quality?

Of course, we want our clothes to be long-lasting and durable. It is important to be able to trust that your clothes can move with you without having to worry about ripping seams or popping buttons. We want our clothes to stay the same shape as when we bought them, and we definitely do not want them to stretch out or shrink over time. It is important that our clothes don’t fade after wearing or washing it a couple of times. We want our clothes to feel good on the skin, especially when wearing layering shirts. The most important element of our clothes is that we want them to last, not fall apart.

The Difference Between Low-Quality and High-Quality

When clothing manufacturers create clothes, there are certain steps that can be taken to make sure the clothing is durable, high-quality, and is comfortable on the skin. This takes time and money. Therein lies the reason why it is so easy to find attractive pieces at budget stores that don’t last more than a week. One way a manufacturer could save money, for example, is to focus on making their clothes look great on a hanger instead of working on its quality. This is done with all kinds of clothes, but especially with shirts like cap sleeve shirts and other essentials since these are the main pieces of your closet.

Quality of the Fabric

You need to look at the quality of the fabric itself. Comparing fabrics is a great idea to figure out exactly what you want for your clothes. Whether it is cotton, wool, denim or any other kind of fabric, you should look into their durability, softness and breathability. In order to find the best quality clothes, you should touch it; examine the density by holding the fabric up to the light, and look closely to make sure there are no gaps or size differences between the individual threads. Cotton is an especially good choice because it is cheap to produce and easy to make well.

It is important to figure out how suitable the fabric is for that particular item. There are no inherently good or bad fabrics. Every kind of fabric has its advantages and disadvantages. The key is to become aware of them so that you can pick the best fabric for your closet.

At Heirloom, quality is something we stress. Our cap sleeve shirts and layering shirts are made of 90% cotton and 10 % spandex and ensure the best possible quality, durability, softness and breathability. With this unique blend of fabrics, our essential shirts such as camis, tanks and cap sleeve shirts are sure to withstand each day’s wear and tear. For more on the quality of our essentials, check us out today!

Dressing for Each Body Type

07 Mar 2019

Each woman’s body is different, and with a wide variety of apparel out there, it can be difficult to know what looks best with your body type. When you try on different outfits, you have probably noticed that some pieces look fantastic on you but then others that seem to showcase parts of your body that you want to hide. Things such as layering shirts and essential shirts usually can help with any outfit, but when it comes to finding a full outfit that works with your body type, there are specific tips that can help. Here is a guide on what you can wear with each body type.

Pear-Shape

A pear-shaped body type entails a woman that has narrow shoulders and hips that are wider than her top-halve. Pear-shapes need to look for clothing pieces that will lengthen their body.

As far as tops go, look for pieces that will accentuate your chest and shoulders. This includes V-necks, scoop necks, bell sleeves, and fitted tops. A classic cap sleeve shirt will look great on your pear-shape body. If you are wearing a layering shirt, you can add any sweater or jacket that hits mid-thigh or right at your waist. Boxy coats and jackets will also look fantastic on you.

When you are shopping for pants, you want to buy darker colors that won’t draw attention to your waist and hips. If you want to appear taller or balance proportions, bootcut or flare jeans are a great option.
Dresses and skirts go well with dramatic sleeves; A-line cuts and embellished necklines will draw attention to the top of your body. To finish off your outfit nicely, add some statement necklaces, big earrings, and even a wide-brimmed hat.

Hourglass Shape

The hourglass body type truly resembles an hourglass. While the chest and shoulder area is proportionately equal with the waist, the naval area curves inward dramatically. If you have an hourglass shape, you should wear clothes that help show off that curve and define the slim line between your chest and waist.

Your tops should be more form-fitting and tailored. Look for wrap tops, peplums, V-necks and round neck shirts. When layering, you can add a chic blazer or a stylish bomber jacket.

High waisted pants or skinny jeans will look best on you because they are more fitted. In addition, wrap dresses and empire silhouette dresses look great because of their classic tailored look.

To tie your look together, skinny belts around the waist look fantastic. And of course, adding jewelry around the neck or collarbone will also look great!

Apple-Shape

Apple-shapes are similar to an upside down triangle. Your shoulders are a little larger than your hips, and you probably don’t have as well defined of a waist. You will want to wear pieces that will define your bust while showing off your legs or your arms.

Since you are bigger up top, you want to look for flowy or boyfriend fitting tops. An A-line sheer blouse with a layering shirt underneath is a classic look for any apple shape. Another way that apple body types can wear a layering shirt or cap sleeve shirt is with a cardigan or jacket that hits on your upper thigh. If you can find jackets that are straight or A-line, they will look flattering on you as well.

One great thing about apple-shapes is that almost any pair of pants will look good on you. You can wear classic skinny jeans, cropped ankle pants, or even a flare style to help make you look taller. It’s all a matter of preference.

When accessorizing your outfit, try sticking to more simple necklaces. However, big stacks of bracelets, statement rings, and larger earrings should be a common additional piece.

Athletic Shape

If you have an athletic shape, it means that you do not have as many dramatic curves — your shoulders and hips are equally proportioned like a rectangle. Your waist is more straight and your weight is even throughout your body. When picking out an outfit, look for pieces that either show off your top or bottom, but not both at the same time.

Tops that can be tucked into a pair of pants or skirt are a great option for the athletic shape because they help to accentuate your waist. Try sticking to scoop or round neck shirts, or even a cap sleeve shirt. You can also layer the top and use layering shirts as a solid foundation.

When choosing outerwear, try looking for more flowy pieces. This would include pea coats or A-line jackets that also hit either below the waist or below the knee. Whatever pants you decide to wear is all dependent on the top you choose. If you choose a loose blouse, then you might want to pair it with your skinny jeans.

As far as accessories go, what you wear depends on what aspect of your body you want to show off. To draw attention towards the top of your body, wear a big pair of earrings. To draw attention to your chest, wear a statement necklace. If you want your arms to appear longer, add some rings. If you have longer arms, add bracelets.

Conclusion

No matter what your body type is, you can find clothing items that are flattering in all the right ways. It can take some trial and error to find the right clothes to fill your closet with, but one item that will never disappoint you is your layering shirts. There’s no outfit and body type that an essential shirt won’t work on, so add a few to your closet to start feeling confident in everything you wear! Five Wardrobe Tips for the Millennial Woman

22 Feb 2019

As a millennial woman, your life is busy. Whether you are working, in school, running errands or trying to have a social life, your day demands a lot. With such a busy life, it can be difficult to find a moment to eat a quick bite of lunch or even change your clothes. Depending on what your day entails, you might need a few different outfits to look presentable no matter where you go. If you are struggling with coming up with what to wear, here are five wardrobe tips for the millennial woman.

1) Plain White Cap Sleeve Shirt

A plain white cap sleeve shirt can provide you with a variety of different outfit options. Season after season, it is always in style and you will never get tired of it. Whether you wear your white cap sleeve shirt with a pair of jeans and sneakers to class or wear it tucked into a nice skirt for work, you will always find a use for your white cap sleeve shirt.

2) Other Essential Shirts

Although a white cap sleeve shirt is a great investment, you can never go wrong with any type of essential shirt. Whether it’s a long sleeve shirt or a simple tank, you will almost always reach for an essential shirt when getting dressed in the morning. Essential shirts like this can provide you with a simple look that can either be dressed up or down. Not to mention they are extremely comfortable and strong.

3) Blazers

Blazers are a great piece to add to your closet and can make almost any outfit look a little more formal and classy. By adding a blazer over a layering shirt, you can have a classic work outfit that is comfortable but not too fancy. No matter if you are going to work, running errands or even attending church, your blazer will look incredible with any layering shirt underneath.

4) Statement Jewelry

Jewelry is the perfect way to tie together any outfit. Statement jewelry, however, is perfect for turning your outfit into a stylish masterpiece. Try wearing a simple black layering shirt with a bold gold necklace and a bracelet and earrings. You can even add a bright red or pink necklace for a pop of color in your outfit. A few gold or silver necklaces will be a great addition to your wardrobe.

5) Pencil Skirts

Pencil skirts come in a variety of different colors, fabrics and textures. They can be worn with a variety of different blouses and shirts, but will always look classic with a simple layering shirt tucked in. You can add a sweater or blazer on top of the layering shirt, or wear it plain with a simple necklace. No matter what you wear with your pencil skirt, you will always reach for it when in need of a professional outfit.

Your style is personal to you and you can customize it however you want. Adding a few essential items like the ones listed above can transform your style and add some versatility to your closet. Try investing in a few layering shirts from Heirloom to add the best options to your wardrobe!

This classic look has evolved over time and now leaves women plenty of room for self-invention and creativity. To summarize, over the last century, cap sleeve shirts have become a necessity for all women.

Here at Heirloom Clothing, we understand the need for quality layering shirts and so we designed our cap sleeve shirts to move and stretch with you, not to mention, withstand all your daily activities and lifestyle.

Black and white is a classic combination that looks both great in casual and formal styles. You can choose to wear more of a structured midi skirt, or something more straight and flowy. Add your go-to layering shirt and your denim jacket over-top for a casual yet classy look. Any pair of shoes will look great with this, but a wedge sandal will look fantastic and help show off your legs.

All Black

We mentioned that black and white was a classic combination, but black on black is another classic look that will result in a stunning outfit. A black long sleeve layering shirt tucked into a pair of black jeans or pants will look great on just about anyone.

For the best selection of essentials and other charming pieces, check out Heirloom Clothing today!

No matter what body type you have, check out Heirloom Clothing, today!

Wearing Layering Shirts in a Professional Setting

26 Feb 2019

It doesn’t matter if you are a stay-at-home mother or a woman in the work field, there are always occasions to wear something a little more professional. A good way to dress up for an important meeting, dinner or conference is to layer your outfit. Whether you wear a blazer, dress pants, pencil skirt, midi skirt, or a blouse, a layering shirt goes perfectly with whatever you choose! Below are several ways to style your professional look with a couple of layering shirts!

Blazers

When a woman shows up to a business event dressed stylishly in a blazer, a few heads always turn. Blazers are versatile and have the ability to match with dress pants, skirts, casual pants and more. No matter what you wear with your blazer, a solid layering shirt is the perfect subtle contrast needed to pull this look off.

Dress Pants/Trousers

A layering shirt can be worn alone with a pair of sleek dress pants or trousers. Usually, dress pants come in darker colors, so picking out a contrasting 1/2 sleeve, 3/4 sleeve or cap sleeve shirt will create a sharp look. Dress pants make a statement of their own, and topping it off with a layering shirt is pure class.

Pencil or Midi Skirt

A pencil, midi or another kind of skirt pairs well with any layering shirt. No matter what style of skirt you choose, with a layering shirt as your foundation, an outfit can be easily completed with an assortment of accessories.

Blouses

There are a lot of beautiful blouses in the fashion world today and while they may be stylish, some might be a little too risqué for your professional setting. To make some of the open shoulder or sheer blouses appropriate, pair a neutral colored layering shirt underneath! You shouldn’t feel restricted by today’s fashions when you have a layering shirt that gives you more options.

Different Ways to Style a Black Long Sleeve Layering Shirt

26 Feb 2019

A black, long sleeve shirt is a simple yet versatile addition to any outfit. Whether you a going for a casual, sporty, or elegant look, a black layering shirt will help you pull off a variety of different styles. Here are four ways you can make it happen!

Overalls

Overalls are without a doubt one of the most trendy clothing items right now and they are only getting more and more popular. One of the best ways to improve this already fashionable article of clothing is by adding a black long sleeve layering shirt. Simply wear the layering shirt under the overalls and you are set with a casual and comfortable outfit.

Flannels

You can choose to match your black layering shirt with a flannel shirt. Whether you keep the flannel shirt open with the black underneath, or you make the layering shirt your main focus by tying the flannel around your waist, this is a great look! This specific combination would be best accompanied by denim jeans and a casual pair of shoes.

Midi Skirt

Another popular clothing item today is the midi skirt. The best thing about these skirts and what makes them so popular is that they come in a variety of styles. From the vast selection of different midi skirts, you can easily pair them with other clothing items. One of the best options, of course, is a black essential shirt — your long sleeve layering shirt but with nothing over the top. To add some elegance to the outfit, you can try including accessories such as a necklace, earrings or bracelets to match your shirt.

Denim Jeans and a Jacket

A black long sleeve layering shirt under a jacket and denim jeans are perhaps one of the most classic combinations around. By pairing a black long sleeve with your favorite denim jeans, jacket, casual shoes, and a few simple accessories, you are able to be yourself!

It doesn’t matter how you choose to wear your black layering shirt, the simplicity of this clothing item gives you the versatility to wear whatever you want. No matter what you have to do throughout the day, you need an outfit that can get you through whatever task or occasion you encounter. You don’t want your clothing distracting you from the day ahead, so here is one of the perfect outfits that should work for any busy day you face!

Cap Sleeve Shirt

A simple cap sleeve shirt is the first part of your busy day outfit. Cap sleeve shirts are a simple addition to any outfit and look great when paired with almost anything. While wearing your cap, you will feel comfortable and flexible no matter what you are doing. You can even wear your essential shirt to the gym or while just lounging around the house.

Black Jeans/Pants

A classic pair of black jeans or pants is a great option to wear on a busy day. They look chic while still adding a casual tone to your outfit. They can also be dressed up or down, depending on what your day entails. Since black is such a neutral color, these pants will look great with whatever color cap sleeve layering shirt you decide to wear.

Long Cardigan

If the weather is a little too cold, add a cute long cardigan over your cap sleeve shirt. A layering shirt adds style and gives some dimension to your clothes. If you get too hot, you can always take your cardigan off and just wear your cap sleeve shirt as is. Cardigans are a classic go-to item for many women as they not only look stylish but add warmth and texture to your outfit.

Boots or Sneakers

Usually, busy days involve being on your feet for long periods of time, so it’s important to wear a pair of shoes that are comfortable and won’t leave your feet aching. A stylish pair of sneakers or even a comfy pair of boots will look great with your busy day outfit and won’t cause your feet to be too sore.

Accessories

A few accessories will tie your entire outfit together without getting in the way of the moving you have to do. Adding a simple necklace or even a pair of stud earrings will add some shine to your look and keep you looking good all day long. You can also pair your favorite neutral colored purse with your outfit to tie it all together.

Busy lives tend to come with time constraints — sometimes you may not get the much-needed time to change in between your daily tasks. But what if you could relax those constraints? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, something as simple as investing in a cap sleeve shirt from Heirloom can help with your busy schedule.

Cap sleeve shirts are a great essential clothing item to have in your wardrobe: they are a versatile and stylish addition that can serve as your work shirt, workout shirt, and even loungewear. Available in a variety of different colors, there isn’t an outfit it won’t work well with. Here are the different ways you can use a cap sleeve shirt in your everyday routines.

Work Wear

If you’re looking for something that’s both comfortable and presentable to wear to work, a cap sleeve shirt is the way to go. Neutral colors might work best if you’re going for a business casual outfit; the shirt can be worn with slacks or a pencil skirt or with a cardigan over the shirt. There are countless opportunities when it comes to crafting the perfect work outfit.

Time to Hit the Gym

Most people tend to either hit the gym before or after work and if you struggle to get out in the morning, you may only have one option: go to the gym immediately after work. Luckily, your cap sleeve shirt that you wore to work can double as a workout shirt! The unique material makes it easy to move in.

Lounging After Work

If you decide to go straight home after work, you’ll find that you will have no need to change out of your cap sleeve shirt. It is comfortable enough to wear at any time. So when you get home from a busy day, you will not feel as if you need to change your shirt to relax a bit.

Bedtime Comfort

After a relaxing night of lounging, you’ll be pleased to know that you can just slip right into bed in your cap sleeve. A simple cap sleeve shirt paired with your favorite pajama bottoms makes for a good night’s rest.
